I saw this album on a bunch of peoples top threes the other day, so I threw it on.
I could not believe how muddy it sounded - and how many of the tunes I could live without.
Kinda suprised myself because I never knew I really did not like this album until the other day.
I LOVE the sound of this album. It's so raw. I think it's one of the best sounding hip albums out, and I absolutely love the drums sounds on it. To each his own, I guess.
I have no problems with album's "sound", so to speak - I just don't like the songs much. In fact, I reluctantly have to use the "hate" word to describe my feelings for Heaven, Vac Scar, and Melt, and I really don't care much for Makeshift, NOIB, and Josephine.
I do think Gus is fantastic, I love Nashville, and I really like SIKU (thanks mostly to the terrific guitar lines/sound). I came to appreciate Are We Family especially once I heard it live, and I also found appreciation for Mean Streak hearing them do it live a couple times. I'd like Copenhagen a lot more if I liked the vocal melody as much as I like guitar bits.
