I was impressed with the Leafs last night, they were dominanting the Rangers for long stretches, definitely deserved the win. Lundqvist was the only reason the Rangers were even in a position to pick up the 1 point.

I usually only start paying attention to hockey Post-Super Bowl.
I think I'm going to start watching streaming games each night / listen to games while doing my work.
Anything significant really happen yet this season? (Aside from Toronto... can't wait to see how they miss the playoffs)

Jordan Eberle's goal in the first game of the season against the Flames will still be on highlight reels at the end of the season.

Staal's hit last night reminded me of the old Scott Stevens' type of hits: crush a guy crossing the blue line with his head down - nasty but clean.

Just a funny little story:

Shannon's shot hits wife in stands

What are the odds? The wife of winger Ryan Shannon -- who was in a lower-bowl seat at a sold-out Scotiabank Place watching a 4-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes -- went home with a special souvenir from the "four or five" posts the Senators hit. Against all odds, the gift was from her husband. "When I hit the crossbar, the puck went over the netting and landed on my wife's lap," Shannon said Thursday of the third-period scoring chance. "She's got a bruise on her left thigh. ... Out of 20,000 people, it hit my wife." Shannon was quick with a quip when asked if he was aiming at his bride. "There was a Toronto Maple Leaf fan sitting next to her," he said. "But I missed by a couple of inches."

Thought I'd give this thread a bounce. I can now watch NHL at hone (actually, I've been able to watch for near on a year, but I've only just realised), so I've been trying to teach myself to actually understand the intricacies of the game... it's been a fun ride thus far.

Absolutely a joke that he was not suspended this league is becoming a joke for not protecting the players the NHL is a spineless league. They wonder why a league like the NFL is so much better then the NHL the NFL is taking steps to protect their players keep it up lose your star players...Crosby who else...loose more franchises around the league because no fan wants to watch this shit!

i'm biased, but ..... steckles cheap shot during the winter classic caused the problem....not even an in game penalty.

nhl=nfl...inconsistent

Well I am a Habs fan but not biased because that is a suspension that needed to happen to send a message and did not need to be 10 games 2 would have at least said something. Even Pacioretty said the same thing in his dam hospital bed wondering if his career is over!

If the the rinks didnt have glass between the benches it would have been a normal hit (yes interference) but just would have ridden him into the boards just like similar plays that occur several times a game. Yes its unfortunate he was hurt, but intent to hurt...No. now a criminal investigation...waste of time...

I don't think in real time chara thought 'i'm going to push his head into the divider'. I think he was obstructing, he is tall, and his hands push people in the head a lot when he is pushing someone against the boards......regardless, i would have liked to have seen at least a 1 gm suspension.

Honestly, it looks more like he's trying to shove him clear over the barrier than into the divider...
