BTW, I'm going on record now and stating a FACT--- ALEX KOVALEV IS THE MOST OVERRATED PLAYER IN THE HISTORY OF THE NHL. It's sickening hearing player after player talk about how awesome he is when he wants to play. The fact of the matter is that he has had maybe three or four notable years. They keep making excuses for the guy. At his best, he NEVER had a 100 point season ,but the way some former players and some analysts talk about him, he could have 60 goals and 140 points if he only tried. That's pure bullsh*t, plain and simple. "Most talented guy I've ever seen" is what I've heard from numerous ex players. Oh, really? So, I guess none of those guys saw Jagr, Forsberg, Lemieux, Gretzky, etc.....the list goes on and on. I mean, the guy had 84 points last season and he was being called a superstar. :lol: :lol: What a joke. :nooooo

I would agree with that. If you ever watch Crosby play, he never really picks up his game until the 3rd period. He also doesn't have that killer instinct like Ovechkin does. Ovechkin wants to score all the time, and Crosby seems like he could care less if he scores any goals. Not that its not important to get a ton of assists, but I think a guy who scores 50 goals is more important than a guy who gets 80 assists. And I'm I'm not saying Crosby isn't a tremendous player, but I don't think he's in the top 5 in the NHL.

Nobody ever called Daigle or Yashin the most skilled hockey player they've ever seen. They have called Kovalev just that. Matthew Barnaby was talking about him as if he was on par with Lemieux. :nooooo
Yes, Crosby has been overrated. However, he's still a great hockey player. He's just not as good as Ovechkin or a few others. Even though Sid has been overrated a tad, he has a Hart Trophy to his name and has scored over 100 points in a season--both things Kovalev can only dream of. :what I think you'll find that most analysts on TSN have called Ovechkin the NHL's top player. It took them a little longer than it should have taken, but they've finally caught up with the rest of the common sense fans of hockey. So, at the moment, I think the Crosby hype has come down to a reasonable level and he isn't quite overrated like before.
You are 100% correct about the goals/assists thing. Goals are clearly more important than assists. Some don't want to believe it because they like players who only get assists (ie Thornton). A 50 goal scorer is WAY more valuable and important than a guy with 80 assists. Thornton is a step below Ovechkin, no doubt about it.

Hey if they can peak at the right time get Tanguay back you never know once you get in the playoffs it doesn't matter where you finished :thumb: .
