Hockey Canada unveils their new jerseys. I like them. I don't like when jerseys are so busy you get dizzy just looking at them (ie: Nashville)

The new ones are fine I guess, though I'm not sure what was wrong with the old ones, which aren't even that old. I think Hockey Canada must be in a competition with the Vancouver Canucks to see who can change uniforms most frequently :?

i don't know why they didn't just stick with this one, it's easily one of the nicest they've ever had.

I don't like the white one either. I read a blog on that page, what is up with the patch on sleeve. Is that where the player number should be?

I like the old ones but the red one is cool.

So the candidates for the Hart trophy are Alex Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin and Jarome Iginla.

I think most people would agree that Ovechkin will probably win it, given his performance, but as for which player should win it... boy that's a doozy. All three have legitimate claims to being the player most valuable to their team.

I'd still go with Ovechkin though. Even though he's finally getting a surrounding cast of talent to help him out (Semin, Backstrom, Green, and Laich for example), without Ovechkin the Capitals would finish in the AHL.

Let the debate commence...

This is pretty funny.

And I got a good laugh with the "police hoping to pull out of Detroit by 2012" line.

So the Leafs fired Maurice this morning...

Peddie was quoted a few weeks ago saying their goal was to have a new GM in place by September. Not by the draft, or by the start of free agency, but by September. I guess they figure Fletcher can handle all the roster moves over the summer, and September will be plenty of time for the new guy to hire a coach before the season starts. Or who knows, maybe Cliff will hire a coach too. If this isn't a solid plan to turn the franchise around then I don't know what is. :nooooo

It is getting more and more comical/pathetic by the day. I guess it would have made too much sense to wait for the supposed new GM to see if he wanted to keep Maurice.

I shouldn't be too hard on Cliff. Being 72 years old and all, the GM "search" is likely being hampered by his need for afternoon naps.

My thoughts exactly. I just said to a buddy that most fans are in such a need to see movement that MLSE is in the "do something by doing nothing" mentality just to show they are making changes.

I was hoping they would stand pat. It's easier to bust on my Leaf freinds when they suck Big Grin
But how many retreads can there be? Who is out there? Do they get somebody from overseas that nobody has ever heard from or do they recycle someone that's ben thru the leauge. If you want a fresh look, get an unheard of. Who is out there that can turn it around? Or wants too. Hockey "mecca" n all, it seems to be a thankless job.

Pat Burns is reading to return to coaching, wonder if he'd consider the Leafs...and vice versa.

Not that I think that its a bad idea, I always liked Burns.............but the Leafs always try re-hiring/resigning people from their glory days and it hasn't panned out yet.

Burns "could" be a great choice, but if a rebuild is to happen, not sure if its the right way to go.
