I saw Paul aftr the show and he said it was fun and that Gord put on a great, full show.

I saw Gord last night and he mentioned that if they were to do this again in the future, that he would like to me to document it to share with fans - as a counter point.

So, confirmed. The crowd didn't really know what was going on at first, as it was a complete suprise. First song was Lonely End of the Rink, then NOISE, then courage, I believe. They played a tight, full on, hour long show.

Paul said by about half way through NOIS, the suits all moved up from cocktail mode to full rock fans, the ties loosened, people started to dance and rock out, and that they all crammed infront of the stage. Hip fans come in all shapes and sizes.

I'm not saddened that they would play a private show at all - good for them and good for the corporation for being Hip enough to go for it. But still, what an idea you have here - a private show for members of this board! That would be incredible and I'm sure it would garner some media attention. We can only hope....

no it's not my idea, it's been propsed before, and turned down, that's what makes me sad...they'll play a private show for a corporation, but not for a group of hardcore fans, doesn't seem right or fair at all, BUT, maybe they will someday and that'll be that.

I think it was turned down for schedule reasons, with a tour coming up, and because the details weren't exactly firm.

At the end of the day, you know, you want to get paid. Preferably, you want to get paid up front.

Further to what skippy wrote, I think it was more a matter of disorganization on the part of the fans that were organizing it than anything else that put the idea of a hipbase show to an end.

But then we have to think about the new thehip.com club, and the "fan only" shows that were held at The Commodore and in Belleville.

And isn't every show, aside from these private ones, for the fans?
