Esthete, I winced in sympathy when I saw the score for the Brewers/Reds game. Holy Cow! It's about damm time the Brewers offense went postal! I was just glad it wasn't Bronson they beat up on or my team's ERA would have been nasty. :lol:

What's even weirder is the winning pitchers for both games were marginal sub-par players last year ( Harang 11-13 / Bush 5-11) having great seasons so far. Who would have thunk Harang would be 3-1 at this point?

Heron, I think you're making the mistake of judging a pitcher by his W/L record, which isn't a good indicator. Harang is our #1 - in 2005 he had a 3.83 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 163 K, 51 BB -- much better numbers than, say, Arroyo (4.51 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 100 K 54 BB).

Glass almost empty??? Obviously you haven't been watching the Tigers for the last 5 years or so. We've managed 100 losses in two straight, why not go for three. This year they are just teasing me and bunching up the wins early. If you look at it..those wins..were against the Royals. My grandmothers nursing home softball team could probably take 2 out of 3 from the Royals

While I admit that I don't watch the Tigers too closely, since I pay far more attention to the NL than I do the AL, I didn't think that Detroit lost 100 games last year....or the year before for that matter....

ok ok you win..but 91 and 90 respectively...I'm still putting my money on grandma and the gals.
At 13-8 I'm not sure if I should be optimistic or should stick to my guns on bunching up the wins early this year

hock: Reds take 3 of 4 from the Brewers, sweep the Nationals, take 2 of 3 from the 16-8 Astros, and just thumped the 17-8 Cardinals tonight (make that 17-9 Cardinals) behind a 4-hit complete-game gem spun by Bronson Arroyo (THANK YOU THEO!). Arroyo is now 5-0 with 34 Ks, a lovely 2.06 ERA, and a filthy 0.89 WHIP.
Could this be our year? If we add one more solid starter and an arm to the bullpen to complement that NL-leading 149 runs scored, Cincy could be playing in October. And I expect Mr. Castellini to do whatever it takes to make a run.
Finally, it looks like there's good reason to be excited as a Reds fan.

hock: hock: Well, they did it again. Reds beat the Cards 3-2 on a base hit in the bottom of the ninth. Cincinnati is 19-8...that's the best record in baseball, folks!
