possible Band names
#46

I used to be in a band (well a succession of bands actually). We always used to do shortlists of band names. Every single time I suggested:

The Luxury
The Wherewithal

Every time they made it on to the final shortlist, but we never picked them. Both of those in my opinion are awesome band names; neither IMO would suit a band who want to be like the Hip though.

BTW just about other names suggested in this thread have been complete and utter rubbish (apart from Kowalski, which (a) is a good name and (b) has now been done). All of the "Devine (sic) whatevers" are awful.

This one was taken from Gus the Polar Bear, except we're using a Moose because I have bobblehead Moose in my car and He's always lonely because He just stays right there on my dash all the time in the cold of the winter and the heat of the summer.

Every time we enter the car we have to say hi to Moose because He's So Ronery

"All stations 2, this is 2, wilted artery, over."

"Wilted Artery," and most of the others, sounds like a coded instruction. Which isn't a good thing, considering that said instructions are made by selecting words at random from predefined lists of words.

To put not too fine a point on it, they still suck. Time to stop trying to come up with names by committee, or with a dictionary in hand.

I'm sorry to say that I think alot of the names HipFan1 comes up with tilt heavily towards being heavy metal/death metal names and they sound, well, really cheesy and fake. If it is a good sounding heavy metal/death metal band name you are looking for, I might suggest you delve more into Norse mythology or something along those lines.

We do play more of a heavy metal, but with Cliff Burton being my idol I try to add the harmony in there that he did whether it be with distortion or wah pedal. So similar to Metallica's Master of Puppets, but not quite as heavy.

What do you mean Norse mythology?

Also a word/name that I've liked for a while now is Andromeda.

Back when I wasn't as good of a listener as I am now, whenever I listened to membership. Whenever Gord sang "Being drawn on by it, carried under carry away, but it's long term membership...." I for some reason thought he sang "The Andromeda, carried under carried away...." Then I became not lazy and decided to look at the words and it said "Being drawn on by it". So after that I pondered the word Andromeda, and it turns out Andromeda is some other type of Galaxy, and I love Astronomy and Astrology. So that name has kind of stuck with me.

If you look at some of the names bands that have become well known, they've chosen names that are symbols of something meaningful to them. Iron Maiden, for example, is derived from an medieval instrument of torture. One of my favorite bands, Queensryche, got their name from an article about Wagner's Ring Cycle and the lead female character in it (the name escapes me at the moment). The Lonely Moose idea sounds good, however I have a humble suggestion that popped into my head this morning. Since the guys in your band seem to treat the moose as a sort of icon, why not call the band Dashboard Icon?
