Gavin Brown - producing the next album?

robbroncs Wrote:i'm just glad they took a step away from bob rock. they seemed to hit a dead end the past few records. great hip tracks, as always. but stagnant. I thought that chris walla kid did an amazing job on gord's last solo lp.

hopefully this gavin guy has great ideas

I agree they definitely needed to get away from Bob. I still love World Container though. Despite a couple of minor complaints regarding the production on certain tracks (In View and the title track specifically), I think it's one of the better albums they've made over the last 10 years. Some great moments on that disc: Ocean, Rink, Fly, Luv Sic, Kids, Last Night I Dreamed, Drop-off, Family Band, WC...all fantastic songs that can stand up to their best work in my opinion. We Are the Same is another story though. Aside from a handful of VERY good songs (Morning Moon, Depression Suite, Queen of the Furrows, Speed River, Country Day), there's a lot of filler on there. It's not a terrible album by any means, but it's pretty mediocre in comparison to the rest of their catalogue.

I spoke with someone close to the band, who has heard the new album and comments...jaw dropping, sounds like old Hip!

Yum!

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

Been looking forward to hearing AT on the radio. So far no luck!

Looking forward to hearing AT live! And other new tunes played live last year.

I wonder which ones make the new album?

On May 17th when news broke that At Transformation would be the 1st single from The Hip's next album and the band posted the single on thehip.com, I made an e-mail request to 93.9 The River (Windsor/Detroit) to play the song. In my e-mail request I gave links to the Hipbase and the band's website for additional information about the song.

Within 40 minutes the DJ played the song during a daily spot featuring upcoming new music. The DJ introduced the song by saying he was glad to hear The Hip came out with a hard rocking new tune. Unfortunately, I haven't heard the song played again.
