I am hoping that they include all the videos along with each CD.
Maybe they can have a special website you can go to and play the Hyper-CD and watch the videos. cratch:

Yea and they could call the membership card something like THC for The Hip Club and also The Hyper Cds is a great idea, they would probably put all the videos for each cd on the actuall CD other than DFN they would have to make an extra CD for that one, Im thinking the only problem would be getting a website to stay working. Sure we would all buy the CDs a 2nd time but hey we could always watch the videos at will.

Man, this band (and/or management) make some strange decisions. Why not release the catalog on vinyl while vinyls hot and not only make some $ but also giving your fans the ability to enjoy your music in any format they wish. As well, the lack of vault releases kills me. Easy $ left on the table.

Yup, I've been saying the exact same thing since they stopped. Pearl Jam, Wilco, and the Black Crowes are making a killing with their live download/vault releases. It's absolutely baffling to me why the Hip would stop releasing them. A lot of easy money left on the table for sure. The Hip have been recording all their live shows since 1995. What's the point in doing that if it's just gonna sit in some vault collecting dust? Same thing goes for the long-rumored rarities/b-sides album. After 12 studio albums, these guys must be sitting on a mountain of unreleased material. This stuff needs to be liberated! I remember an interview with Paul way back when they were promoting Music@Work. He mentioned that they had recorded around 30 songs for that record, and that they could have easily released a double album if they wanted. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd step over my own mother to hear some of those songs. Perhaps they're waiting until they hang it up before they release all that stuff. Who knows.

We're all pretty much begging the Hip to take our money, and they're not doing anything about it. Goddamn, this band is frustrating sometimes.

Exactly!!!! The vault shows would be almost pure profit for them, and I'd love to hear that unreleased stuff. I get the "look forward, not backwards" philosophy, but why not give the fans some cool extras? We've got I think 4 unreleased tunes, 6 if u count the two on yer favorites. And a total of 10 live shows...from a nearly 30 year career? I love this band, but the past few years have really seen me lose interest between the predictable, shouty shows and the lack of cool releases aside from the albums. This band just isn't giving me much reason the stay engaged, unlike PJ, whose site I check at least once a day thanks to all the cool stuff they put out.

I hear ya. I have tickets for the Hip's upcoming Calgary show, but sadly I already know exactly what they're going to play, and I'm crossing my fingers and praying to the rock n' roll gods that Gord can control himself and actually sing the damn songs. Unless they fix the problems with their live show, this will very likely be my last Hip gig for a long time. It's sad that it's come to that.

As for Pearl Jam, they really are the golden standard these days. I'm on their website too at least every other day, as it seems they're always releasing cool new stuff for the fans. Between the awesome merch, the constant bootleg releases, vinyl reissues, etc.. those guys probably sleep on piles of money.

I've found that it's best to ignore the big stadium shows, and, if possible, see them in the smaller venues in the U.S. They seem to pull out all the stops for those shows, and do the greatest hits thing for the arenas. It totally sucks, but I've seen some amazing shows just south of the border.

Also, try to see them early in the tour. It seems like they try out lots of different material early on, to see what works with the crowd, then hone it down for the rest of the tour. The early shows on the NFPA tour were outstanding; the Rochester show will be a night I will never forget.

And I would love to hear some unreleased material, to get back on topic. I would eat that stuff up for breakfast!

Sometimes I wonder about the extent to which The Hip are really INTO being the Hip. That's to say, they seem to come together every two years to record and then tour; and their music is still excellent; but there seems to be something almost dutiful about it, especially on the part of Downie, who has his own totally separate life in Toronto. (Frankly I've long felt that if it wasn't for his sense of obligation to the other guys, Downie would have become a purely solo act long ago). Unearthing all that archival stuff, etc., might require a kind of "full time job" commitment from some or all members of the band - unless they're willing to delegate it to someone else, like Dylan does with his "Bootleg" series. Presumably they're not willing to do that. So perhaps it all ends up in this netherworld, lost to a band that is not sufficiently fully committed to itself, but not sufficiently UNcommitted that it would delegate the job. Just a thought.

Another possibility is that it's not money left on the table at all. How well do their records sell now anyway? Take that and subtract, because rarities, outtakes, demos, etc., are going to sell considerably less (probably). It may not be worth the trouble as a simple business proposition, either for them or for the record comapny.

I sent Alan Cross a tweet a week ago asking WHEN these were going to be released.
Alan Cross WAS THE PERSON who tweeted that these were coming out well over a year ago.
It is now September 7, 2013 and still NO WORD from Alan Cross and still no RE-ISSUES!
This is beyond stupid!
If you are going to ADVERTISE that these are coming out, PUT THEM OUT!
Over a freaking year, and still NOTHING!!!
UNACCEPTABLE!
