OK, so this weeks video you should get a particular kick out of.

Acoustic Courage, from the Bathhouse.

Now, this is NOT the version you have heard. This is a different take. The audio is a mixture from my two cameras and is not a mix as you have heard.

During this session, as I recall, they did five songs. About three takes each. This was NOT the finaltake. A rough mix was made of each song and that is the version of Courage that has been posted as SOTD.

I'm going to look for my tapes of this session so that the other videos will see the light of day.

Anyway, enjoy.

Great video MAv.
What are the guys playing this way for? It looks like there are microphones and they are mostly in separate rooms/recording spaces, as if they were trying to get something down.

Well, maybe that is the affect of the two cameras.

We are all in the same room - well, Johnny is in the adjoining room for part of the day, maybe all of the day. I'd have to check. But everybody else was in their usual "positions" in the room.

For sure they recorded this, as they often do - it is a recording studio - they have the gear, they are musicians. . . they were playing for fun, to get together and I was invited to record it.

I have one camera on a tripod and another I am operating in my hand as I walked and crawled around the room. I started operating one camera on the tripod and then switched cameras, leaving the camera on the tripod pointed at Gord - in this video - and walking around with my little handheld. I would point the tripod camera at different people in different songs and move it around if I happened to come near it in my travels.

anyway, that's how this came to be.

Thank you for the background story MAv, it really adds to the video.

Other than on the web, you mean?

Yeah, or even just a web release of it. Even iTunes or something.

So uh...
I think everyone should head on over to thehip.com to hear a song that Gord's "working on" and "the other guys haven't heard it yet."

And watch this one all the way to end for an added bonus.

The end seriously sent shivers down my spine and made my neck hairs stand up.

Awesome video. I always thought that Pretend was an alright song, but that version was incredible. It just strikes my mood perfectly as I am about to hit the hay and get some sleep. And oh yes the added bonus was really cool to hear as well. Oddly enough I was just listening to it earlier tonight. Thanks MAv!
