[Zenith]

I like your shots too Zenith and am anxious to see them. When you do your night shots, are you shooting on manual settings? That's what I want to learn more about!

Yep, exactly what trevor said (only my camera can only have an exposure of up to 15 seconds. I do quite like the challenge of finding sufficient flat surfaces to balance my camera on (before I had a tri-pod... although, since I broke it, I'm back to doing it again now...). For every decent shot, there's usually a load of dodgy ones. I'll often take the some (or similar photo) four or five times until I've got it right - much to my girlfriends disgust...

Ohh, looks at that - 1,000 posts!

  That doesn't change, even when that girlfriend has a new title...like wife!

[hip]

As for your shots Hip, I like them. One comment I would make is that there doesn't seem to be enough depth to them. They look a little flat. When you are shooting a bird in the distance, try to open your apeture up a little more to only focus on the bird and blur the background. That will separate the two and trick the eye into believing that there is more depth then there really is.

Thanks for the tips Trevor, I'm still a rookie right now so I'm just shooting with the preset fuctions that are on the dial. I look forward to learning more about using the manual functions of the camera. With my shaky hands, I'm just happy to get a decent shot without a tripod when I have my zoom on! Most of the photos I posted on flickr have been cropped, sharpened, and brightened somewhat, the shot of the owl has not been touched at all! All tips and comments are welcome as I really want to keep getting better, and I don't know ANYTHING!

I'm in the same boat here, just learning my way round my SLR really...

Ok, here's some of my recent offerings...

There's more on Flickr, and a load more to come as well. 8)

Nice Ben,

I like #5, 6, and the last one. Great compositions on these!
Will have to check out your Flickr site in a bit!

[laliber]

the second one is very cool ..:thumb:

Some more from the other night - Considering the weather has been so terrible recently, we had a beautiful sunset...

[Zenith]

A couple more from the other night - I've been experimenting with joiners again (sixth form nostalgia). I have a setting on my camera to make it easy to do them, but I never get round to putting the pictures back together again - Until now...

We also went for a walk today down the north bank of the rive, down to Canary Wharf, where I did a few more...

thats a cool feature, nice shots.

Hey Ben, do a google search for a piece of freeware called Autostitch. I've used it to join photos before and it returns some good results, basically seamless.

Thanks Corby, I'll have a look for it. I like the misregistered look of joiners though - It creates a really odd perspective. 8)

Excellent stuff, Trevor. You have a really great eye. I love the composition of the one with the frog especially. :thumb:

Here's a few of my latest shots, with the new set up...

Thanks Ben!
I have been enjoying watching your progression as you learn new techniques.

I look forward to getting out and shooting with you in...oh, about a months time! Woo Hoo!
