I don't feel that the Leafs are a non-playoff team. Clearly McCabe is their MVP as they are now 0-5 with him out of the lineup. If he comes back before its too late, if Lindros comes back, and if Sundin and Belfour start justifying their salaries, the Leafs will be OK. Yeah, I know there are a lot of "ifs" there but I don't think any of them are unreasonable.

One thing I will say is this: uh, Jeff O'Neill, feel free to show up anytime.

That being said, I sure wish I had picked a better time to watch my first HDTV HNIC broadcast. If any of you have been on the fence about getting an HDTV, hockey broadcast in HDTV makes it worth the money.

Not trying to start a fight but I thought Sundin was "Captain Clutch". I thought he was the guy who could get his team out of a rut.

I've shown you the stats. Sundin is Captain Clutch. However, there is no disputing that he hasn't been on his game all season. Sort of like #44 on your team.

The Sabres definitely got screwed on that goal. It was clearly kicked in. Whether it counted or not though, I don't think it would've mattered much. The Flames had lots of jump tonight, and the Sabres had a bit of trouble matching Calgary's speed and their physical play for most of the game. Regehr's hit on Kotalik was a thing of beauty.

Apparently the video review guys upstairs reported no-goal, but the message got screwed up between the booth and the ice and it was awarded as a goal at the ice. Weird. Anyway, the Sabres are showing themselves to be one of the more resilient teams in the league this year. This shouldn't be a major setback for them.

bert also had a huge layoff, not just due to lockout but his suspension, has had a bad back most of the year, and is just starting to find his groove..i admit his play the first half of the year was terrible, but he's picked up his game a hell of a lot....

Regarding Fleury, is anyone surprised that he is painting himself as the victim once again? The guy is a big piece of garbage. Fleury is a friggin joke. I'll never have any sympathy for him or what he's done to himself. It's 100% his own fault.

Yeah...it sure was his fault that his Junior hockey coach was f*cking him in the ass for all those years under his watch...you're a friggin idiot tiger. I can't say that Theo has handled his sexual abuse well, and by no means is he the only one to have suffered this tragedy...but it's certainly not 100% his fault as you so eloquently put it....you can be a real tit sometimes!!!

When did this news come out? I honestly never heard of Theo Fleury being abused by his junior coach. Sheldon Kennedy I heard of, but not Fleury. Get a grip and stop making excuses for Fleury. He has come out and said he was never abused in junior hockey.

Yes he has "said" that he was never abused but both he and Sheldon were teammates during the same years Graham James coached them...it has been known for years that 2 players were abused during that time period. Theo's abuse is probably the worst kept secret in hockey...but instead of bringing it to the forefront like Sheldon did, Theo tried to compartmentalize it, and deal with it in his own way, that obviously hasn't worked out too well for him, has it? I'm not trying to make excuses for him, infact I can't say that I agree with any of his antics and outbursts...but to say he's 100% at fault is wrong. I guess that if you didn't know about this story then it's a little different for you...but now you know.

Here's my funny story of the day - on my way back from rec hockey this morning I stopped in at 7-11 and one cashier (on older woman) said to the other (a teenage girl):

IF it is true and he was abused, I'll say it isn't 100 percent his fault. I repeat IF. I still am not sure he was abused but if he was I'd give him a little leeway and say it's 75% his fault.

The Devils winning streak ended tonight at 9 games, as they lost to my New York Rangers.
The Rangers rookies were again impressive tonight. Henrik Lundqvist picked up his 20th win on the season (20-6-5, 2.14gaa, .927%), Petr Prucha scored his 24th goal of the season (18 in the last 22 games), Dominic Moore was the best forward all night long, was amazing on the PK and scored his 8th of the season into the empty net, and Fedor Tyutin was again sensational on the blueline.

Michael Nylander, Jaromir Jagr, and Martin Straka all played really well tonight and i've been very, very impressed with all 3 of their work ethics all year long, all have been playing sound two-way hockey, yes, even Jagr lol.

And Darius Kasparaitis was given a 5 minute major & a game misconduct for an elbow on Grant Marshall. Marshall left the game with what looked like a concussion. I thought it was a very dirty hit, a direct headshot regardless of whether the elbowing actually made contact or not, and even though the NHL has already said they won't suspend Kasper, i personally think he should have been given a game or two.
One more note...man did Jensen ever give Ryan Hollweg a beating tonight!

Who else is a leader on the Canucks? Tell me, please. I'm dying to know. Are you going to say Linden is a leader? Sedins? Carter? Jovo? Bert? Naslund is the only leader on the Canucks as far as I'm concerned. Maybe it's Auld? Oulette? Cloutier (hehe)? Ruutu? Kesler? Josh Green? Morrison? Oh, it must be Cooke right?

So why does Yzerman get so much credit for "leading" the Wings to their Cup victories? Why does he get all the glory? Why is Mark Messier worshipped like he's the Messiah? I'm just asking this because if these winning teams have so many leaders, why does ONLY ONE GUY GET ALL OF THE CREDIT for leading them?
