As a Leaf fan (who likes to think he at least has some sense of vision), here's what I think about McCabe:

Worthy of a third defensive pairing on most teams and might see more time on the PP. In all honesty (and I said this back then), he should have been traded prior to the deadline whenever that year was that he had the huge numbers. Was it 05-06? His stock never was and never will be that high again. The man has a good slapshot with mediocre puck-handling/skating ability and he is hopelessly irresponsible with the puck in his own end. Sadly, the Leafs are now stuck with him. No team will want his level of mediocrity matched with his payscale.

Could be either one really. The description does fit both players right now to be honest.

Though I have to say I do wish Leaf fans would back off somewhat on booing him. It's not going to do him or us any good to be so negative on him all the time. He's capable of being a better player, I really do believe that (just as I believe Souray is NOT capable of any more than he is), I just think some of this early pressure is getting to him and he's squeezing his stick, etc. etc. Just everybody relax and things will be fine.

And if you win, I have to have "Ontario's biggest Vancouver Canucks fan" in my signature for the same time frame.

I don't know about that, but I do know that in retrospect it is actually unfair to compare McCabe to Souray. McCabe - despite his well publicized blunders - has managed to be +36 for his career and has been a plus player in 5 of his 6 seasons in Toronto. In fact, while in Toronto McCabe is +62.

Souray, on the other hand, is a minus 30 for his career and was a minus player in four of his six seasons in Montreal.

Opiated, what's going on with the Canucks? Why are they so eager to send down young guys like Shannon and Raymond? I think they should give them an opportunity since their replacements suck hard. Isbister is a certified bum.

those young kids will come in mid-season i'm sure and get a regular spot on the team. It's going to be a roller-coaster type season this year. The San Jose's of the world will feast on us, while we feast on other teams. I'm still hoping Naslund is gone by the end of the season. He's a waste of space

100% agreed. He's no leader and never will be. Now, he's just a mediocore NHL player. His infamous wrist shot looks horrible now. I say send him back to Sweden and hope that some free agent who can score wants to come to Vancouver. :lol:

Morrison, Kesler, and Cooke are also pretty useless. The Sedins look like the only real offensive threats on the team, just like last year.

C'mon - Burke ain't that stupid. Well, that's what I said before he gave Bert $8 mil over two years anyway.

Where are all the Antropov bashers?!? Yeah, I know that at some point this season he'll miss 30 games with a sore toe or a blister, but damn, 11 points in 8 games, 6 goals, and +10. Goulet called it.
