Schremp needs to learn that making a few silly moves in a shootout isn't good enough to make you a hockey player.

What's the deal with Downie? He gets suspended for 20 games and then gets sent down and will be playing in the AHL apparently. So, after the Flyers play 20 games of their season, could they theoretically call up Downie to play for them? Kind of a waste of a suspension isn't it? Doesn't really send a strong message. :roll:

No, they can't do that. He has to be called up before the suspension is put in place. What they could do is say he's on the roster, and let him practice with the big team for the first 20 games. Then, let him play one game and send him down to the AHL. If they weren't gonna use him anyway, it eats up the suspension.

After hanging out with Schremp a few times when he played for the Knights here in London, I can confirm that es, he is a huge ego maniac. Definatly one of the biggest dicks I had ever met. Sure he can dangle the puck, but he only cares about himself and never played and defense. I'm sure its a long way off for him to make the Oilers

Edmonton - what do you guys think about Moreau becoming captain?
I like it, but from this far away, I never even knew he was captain "material".
I have always liked him for some strange reason, and he is actually the reason I follow Edmonton.
I always hoped the Sabres would have made a move for him about 5 years ago, but once again I never even knew about his leadership qualities.

I think it's a good choice. Moreau has been there for years, is the prototypical "gritty" Oiler, and plays with his heart on the line.

I'm not sure who else you could give it to either... maybe Staios.

Living in Ottawa I don't get to read the ins and outs of the Oil locker room, but from what I can remember hearing, Moreau has the respect of the guys and their ears, so why not?

The other thing I'm excited about is to see if Sam Gagner sticks around, and if he keeps scoring. From the highlights I saw during the preseason, him and Hemsky have some chemsitry, so perhaps Hemsky will FINALLY have a break out year (and shoot more!)

Moreau is a big guy, and from what has been said here, a quiet leader who speaks when he needs to. Quality guy.
Little known fact about Moreau, he is a Hip fan. Everytime the Hip have come to Edmonton and I've gone backstage at Rexall (which is three times now), he's there having a couple drinks with the boys. They seem to know each other quite well.

Burke's an idiot. I was watching that interview. What Lowe did was comepletely within the rules. Burke is just mad because he thought Penner was going to become a great player and he lost him. Burke seems to get a hard on from being extremely angry at everyone and everything all the time. The extremely angry look on his face for the duration of the entire interview was comical. He just won the Stanley Cup last year and he's still the angriest person on earth. I don't understand why he's like that. He was also really pissed off that Neidermayer hasn't made up his mind about retirement yet and and he got really angry when Duthie asked him about going to England.

I'm fine with it. As noted, he fits the mold of "good leader but not great player" captains that we've had basically since Gretzky and Messier (and arguably Weight) left. I was wondering who they'd choose, I figured it'd be Staios, but I don't mind Moreau by any means. I just sort of forgot that he'd existed. I kind of stopped paying attention to the Oilers midway through last year in order to preserve my sanity.

After looking at our lineup on paper, and then seeing said lineup in action last night, one thing has become crystal clear, it's gonna be another LONG season as a Leafs fan.

Riddle me this...we trade away a TON for Mark Bell, a recovering alcoholic that just got out of rehab who can't even play right now due to suspension and a 4 million dollar goalie that can't crack the lineup on opening night. Way to fu*king go JFJ, you've proven once again how you are one of the worst GM's in Professional sports. And I don't want to hear about how Bell had to be included in the deal...if you didn't want to take Bell, you could have gone for another goalie.

And who can forget the $20 million dollar 4-man defensive backbone of Gill, Kubina, Kaberle and McCabe. With the exception of Kaberle who has the ability to show some skill on a semi-regular basis this Leaf defense could seriously be the worst in the league. Hal Gill is probably the worst skater in the entire NHL, he is physically incapable of turning to the outside to prevent players from driving the net.

Raycroft was the same old Raycroft last night...a couple above average saves but 2-3 weak goals at the wrong time, allowing the Sens to come from behind and steal the game that they had no business winning.

This must be how a heroin addict feels...he knows that doing his drugs are wrong but he loves them too much to quit.

Tough loss for the Leafs last night. Sens came out hard and Leafs came out flat in the third. Antropov with two goals...I think I've seen everything.
