Before I post this, I acknowledge I'm a dork. So don't feel the need to point that out.

I'm the sorta guy that uses the rating option on all of his songs on iTunes. By the time I'm familliar enough with a song, I rank it from one star (Green Day's Wake Me Up When September Ends) to five stars (The Bleeding Heart Show by The New Pornographers...the best song ever written, no argument.)
Anyway, since we have this thread here, I decided to see song-for-song, which album I actually like best. So i added up the stars for all the songs, and divided by the # of tracks, to give an average between 1-5.
Obviously this is flawed. It doesn't account for some emotion or nostalgia you have towards an album, plus one's feeling about album continuity.
Plus, I may have skewed some stars because I feel I like an album is better than another. But whatever.

Here was my original posting in this thread:
DFN>PP>IBE>FC>RA>IVL>UTH>TATH>M@W>TTH

And here were my results with my experiment.
DFN - 3.86
PP - 3.75
FC - 3.42
RA - 3.33
IBE - 3.31
TATH - 3.25
IVL - 3.10
UTH - 3.00
M@W - 2.93
TTH - 2.57

Anyway, I thought that was somehow interesting.

Now, go back to silently mocking me.

I don't get how most people have the self-titled album ranked so low. Considering it was their first studio album, I feel it has a lot to offer. It's got grit, power and poetry. Some of their greatest hits are on this album.
Evelyn
I'm a Warewolf, Baby
And of course, without Highway Girl (one of my personal favourites), there wouldn't have been the Double Suicide Rant.
It's the roots of the Hip :thumb:

I'm kind of shocked at all the Music @ Work hate. It was the first Hip album I ever heard, and it's still one of the most unique and beautiful records i've ever had the pleasure of listening to. That said:

M@W > PP > FC > TATH > DFN > IBE > IVL > RA > UTH > TTH

Just off the top of my head:

UTH>FC>RA>PP>IVL>TATH>DFN>IBE>M@W>TTH

Poor TTH, at the end of everyone's list.

A) It's not even an album.
B) It pretty much blows.

RA : 4.08 : 3
IBE : 3.62 : 8
HEN : 3.58 : 6
DFN : 3.21 : 7
MAW : 3.21 : 9
TTH : 3.00 : 10

Moi aussi!

UTH: 5.0
M@W: 4.9
PP: 4.8
RA: 4.8
DFN: 4.6
IBE: 4.4
TATH: 4.4
IVL: 4.2 (not including bonus tracks)
FC: 4.1
LBU: 4.0
TTH:3.6

Kinda feels right, though UTH is too high - but there isn't a song on that CD that I dislike, but I think I've kind of outgrown it and I'd put it in the DFN/IBE range, and I'd bump FC over IVL and TATH. Soooo.....

M@W>PP>RA>DFN>UTH>IBE>FC>TATH>IVL>LBU>TTH

Man. 11 CDs. I remember having a 5 CD changer at University and thinking about how great it would be to one day fill all five slots with Hip CDs (this was just before the FC release).

What's with the DFN thing? It's Ok I guess... :-)

I didn't. I said the EP blows. 'Cause it does.

If you took the 8 worst songs from John Mellecamp's John Cougar, Nothin' Matters and What If It Did, and American Fool and put them on a record, you'd have the Hip EP Part Deux.
