New Album Sounds .....

eatmecompletely Wrote:Keep the info coming man

Do you have any idea when they plan on releasing it or how close they are

Um . . . . . Please read my last post above. . . . that information is WAY above my pay grade.

Maybe the next time you're with some folks listening to some of the new tunes, you could casually ask how the recording process is going and what the potential release date is.

Well, truthfully, after spending a couple of days with the guys out west etc. I'm pretty well caught up. Unfortunately, I've said pretty much all I am prepared and can say at this point in time. . . . though I'm sure I'll be able to speak more freely about it in the future. . . . not to get you more excited at all, it's just delicate and WAY above my pay grade, as the saying goes.

It sounds AWESOME!
There is no name for the album yet, though I heard a list of 20 or so possible names.
Even the Song titles are not 100% - there was some slight hesitation about posting the setlists for this reason actually, as the names might change. Nothing is in stone at this point, excpet how freaking great they sound.

I sat in and filmed a small session in Vancouver on friday before the Commodore of Robbie laying down a sweet little lick for one of the songs. . . I'll be editing a mixed video over the next little while for posting, btw.

and I think that's it. . . . please, try not to shit on me for only giving you bits and pieces of info, that's all that's in the cards for now. It's either that or nothing an I think the consensus is people would rather hear something than nothing.

MAv.

No worries MAv, I think most of us understand the situation that you are in. We don't want you to lose your Job by saying something to soon.

Thanks for any teaser at all Mav! This summer? This fall? Doesn't really matter... It only matters that the guys are creating solid music for us in the not so distant future!!!

My only compaint is there is no Detroit/Windsor area show this summer..... Sad

More time to save my $$$$ for when they come around I guess...

Peace :thumb:

Corby Wrote:Mav, you're not making the wait any easier  Glad to hear that the album is top-notch.

I transcribed as much for the lyrics to rink as i could comprehend. Please correct or add to it, as i'm positive i'm mistaken about some parts:

I think this verse has to be:

Hear your voice 'cross a frozen lake
Voice like the end of a leaf
Saying you won't die of a thousand fakes
Beaten by the sweetest of of dekes

Might need confirmation from the hockey playin' crowd. Is "deke" a hockey-specific word? Is it used in soccer too, or just Canadian soccer. Correct spelling?

jf

EDIT:

Maybe "Voice like the end of a leaf" is "Voice like the end of a lead"

More envious than anything !

I didnt mean to come across as knocking him, sorry Mav if I did!

Nothing but the best for you hipsters, I didnt mean to put anyone down
Perhaps you're not familiar with who MAv is... as in, a friend and employee of The Hip. Aside from being our main conduit to the band and what's going on with life in Hipland, he also runs thehip.com...

MAv.

You are exactly right MAv...we are very lucky to have you contributing any information you have to this community. It is very much appreciated and please don't think otherwise due to the odd negative comment that may surface. Any new info is better than nothing! :thumb:

From the photos - Honey, I Shrunk The Drum Kit.

Looks like Johnny has lost his left tom, a floor tom, the electronics, and a cymbal. I wonder why. And I wonder how that changes the dynamics of the older songs. Interesting.

MAv - Jokes about creating unrest aside, thanks a tonne for the new album report. I'm embarassed enough to admit that I was a bit worried about the Bob Rock connection - not because I have issues with Rock but because so many people here seem to. Hearing/reading your enthusiasm for the new album puts my mind at ease.
