For those who didn't see the thread...The Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir has been added to this bill.
There is another "big" band being added, as well.

I want 30,000 there.
And Kingston's size will have very little bearing on the size of this show. Hip fans province wide (As evidenced by the small and dispersed group on this very website) will be coming into K-Town for this one.

No; every single Queen's student is NOT going to want to go. MANY Queen's students will want to go, but you will be surprised how many won't want to go. Also: Queen's only has 15 000 students; RMC another 2000; ST. Lawrence college ... 5000? If 1 out of every 2 students goes to the show (a huge percentage), that's only 11 000 fans.
Ottawa got a crowd of 30 000 because Ottawa has a million people in it. Kingston has 125 000.
Lastly, no one on this board SHOULD want 30 000 people to be there. 30 000 means more drunken idiots, a bigger mosh pit, more fights, more people there for the wrong reasons, worse parking, worse lines getting in, worse lines at the concession stands, and worse sight-lines. if you get there early, it means the crowd pushing you against the protective barrier is larger and more forceful and more people will get hurt.
We should be hoping that only 10 000 make it; not 30 000.[/quote]
Fair enough. But this also seems like the kind of event where a lot of students will go regardless of whether they like the Hip or not; like I said, it's the day after frosh week/day before classes, one last chance to really kick back before the year starts...Kingston is a wild place during frosh week, throw a Hip concert into the mix and you're looking at real chaos that Sunday.
In terms of parking, meanwhile, no one who can walk to the venue should even consider driving there. Park downtown and walk; it's maybe twenty minutes each way, while the road out to RMC is single lane and is going to be so very, very clogged up before and after the show.

Whether students are fans of The Hip or not, they'll go. IT'S FROSH WEEK IN KINGSTON!
But lets drop the debate, and look forward to a killer show in Kingston!

I hear Nickelback might be making a surprise appearance at this show. Any truth to this rumor?

Dear God... if there is any merit to that Nickelback rumor, and even the OLP rumor, there are going to be thousands of people there for the wrong reason (the hip,... but the right reason, charity)... I'm hoping they don't announce any big name acts... maybe a Blue Rodeo here, a Sarah Harmer or Kathleen Edwards there... a couple of local bands and thats it... I hate Nickelback with a passion, and I believe they are selfish, conceded and egoists'... they wouldn't do anything for chairty... OLP I can see, and I wouldn't mind a surprise UNANNOUNCED visit, as long as Raine Maida has improved his live singing... was Mr. Downie wishing for 30,000 and expecting only 10,000 because of the show, or because of the grounds... how big is this venue? And I don't think there were 30,000 people at the show in Ottawa... I was there, and the paper pasted it as a 30,000 person show, but as an estimate... I think they went on later to announce only 26,000... the estimate included people who left and came back... but damn, that show was packed... 2nd biggest in Ottawa history if I'm not mistaken

Sorry guys, the Nickelback thing was 100% sarcasm...didn't mean to scare anyone....talk about putting a damper on possibly the best Hip show of all time! I thought it would be taken as a joke. Ooops.
