Kurt Angle was an olympic wrestling champion. I saw a documentary about him and it was unbelievable how much he trained for the olympics and in university. I think he was the NCAA champ as well. All he did was basicall eat sleep and train

And then won the Gold medal with the small impediment of a neck broken in two places.

I remember watching it on TV, I'm big into the olympics.

Tht was his big push when he started in the WWF, he was an "american hero" and all that stuff. He's gotta be the fastest rise to fame in the WWF ever. I caught a bit of Smackdown last night when flipping through the channels he is now wearing his 1996 Atlanta Medal, or a close facsimilie. I can't see him wearing the real thing, too valuable.

The Rock played Football for Miami University! There were at least two former NFLers in WCW. Chris Jericho is the son of a former New York Ranger, can't think of his REAL last name, and plays hockey, but then again, isn't it like required that when you are born in Canada, they put little hockey skates on your feet and a stick in your hand before they present you to you mother?

Jericho is the son of Ted Irvine who played with New York in the 70's. Chris was born Chris Irvine in NYC. He went on a tour of the middle east in his early days and became very religious. He adopted the name "Jericho" from the biblical city. He does a lot of work with Make a Wish and Easter Seals in Canada, and was once told by Eric Bischoff that he was too small to ever make it big. In 2002, when he headlined WrestleMania in front of 70,000 at Skydome, his percentage for that single nights work was over $125,000.

I wish I was that small.

Yeah Bischoff also told Stone Cold he could never make it in just black trunks.

From what I've read, Jericho is about 5'10" so he's like one of the smaller guys. If you look closely when he wrestles, he's wearing plattform boots!

Lifts are pretty common, Vince especially likes his guys big. Vinnie is notorious for the "airport factor." He'll hire talentless stiffs who are huge just because people will notice them in airports... he figures this awe will translate into money.

Paul Wight, The Big Show, wears lifts so that he appears much taller than other wrestlers. And Bret Hart had them as well. When I interviewed Benoit and Jericho, I was looking down at both of them, but I think each guy was thicker than two of me put together. Smile

He was either jerkin yer chain or mine. The biblical story is in Tommy Billington's book though, and his finisher is (or was at least) called the "Walls of Jericho"...so who knows.

Was sent this today by a buddy in Alberta. Those Westerners...

Whether, you've ever liked wrestling or not, this is funny, funny stuff. (especially the Luger quip)

And it proves my theory that this business is FAR more interesting behind the scenes. Smile

jericho has probably told many different stories to many different people..i thought he was a pretty decent guy though..benoit was a complete prick when i met him, and RVD was just great..joking, and laughing..really enjoying himself....coolest guy i met though, had to be The Fink, howard finkel..what a great guy, with tons of cool stories, and he told me the best ever was bret hart...

as for wrasslin being interesting behind the scenes, no shit...foley's book is one of the coolest reads around...i'm interested in checkin out the death of wcw..should be good..a great site to check out for some laughs is www.wrestlecrap.com

Wrestling just isn't what it used to be. I am a long time fan who still loves it, but the WWF is just so lame. No passion, no energy, no creativity. When I watch old ECW stuff I still get excited, shouting at the tv and shaking my arms as I chant E-C-dub, E-C-dub, E-C-dub, E-C-dub, E-C-dub, E-C-dub...

who does everyone think are the best to watch in the ring (currently)? i mean actually wrestling, who sells the best, and who can give it out the best (most believably)?

HHH is pretty damn good in the ring, and that's probably why he's been on top for so long now, I've always thought Edge is great to watch, and despite originally thinking his gimmick was cheap and that he'd just fade away into obscurity, i'm startin to think John Cena could be the future of the WWE, seriously, he's really good, and i think he brings a bit of that passion and energy and hunger back that hasn't been there for a while, anyone that saw his street fight with whoever that Carlito guy's goon is knows what i'm talking about. it'd be the shit if Cena won the title at Wrestlemania, i dunnno if he'll get the push just quite yet though. also, i have to add, Cena's the shit for sportin' a pimpin' vintage habs jersey when he was in Montreal .

HHH is good but i dont like the fact that he will rarely/if ever do "the job", batista and orton will be good a few years down the road, same for cena (but i dont really watch too much smackdown), edge i think is pretty damn good, same with rvd,
