As promised, I will take you through my first at bat with The Tragically Hip's Three Pistols ushering me into the batters box:
It all happened so quickly. I was doing the catching duties for our team, so I had minimal time to warmup in the on-deck circle, as I was busy removing my catcher's gear. It felt uncomfortable, as I only took a few practice swings before it was my time.
Before I knew it, my song was playing, and I was thrust into the spotlight. With the weight of the Hipbase weighing heavily on my shoulders (as I had promised to give you my review), and my personal baseball pride on the line, I knew I couldn't come up empty handed. The music was sweet to my ear, and honestly pumped me up with a shot of adrenaline. I kid you not - it is a completely different feeling going up to the plate with music as opposed to silence - you feel more powerful; more in control of the situation. This is my at bat. This is my song. This is my time.
I took the first pitch for a called strike. I didn't want my first at bat to be a weak ground out and have that haunt me for the rest of the game. Knowing that I had fallen behind in the count, I knew I had to claw my way back into control. I stepped out of the box, remembered Three pistols in my head, and stepped back in. I had battled my way back to a full count, where anything could happen.
Swinging defensively, I recognized a pitch that I could hit. It was a fast ball on the outer half of the plate. I drove the ball to the opposite field gap, directly in between the Cefterfield and Rightfielder. My first at bat with Three Pistols leading me in was a stand-up double.
I finished the game going 3 for 3 (2 Singles, 2B, BB, 2 Runs). We won the game by a score of 8-5. I had a really fun time, as the weather was perfect and good times were had. I'm looking forward to the rest of the summer and fall with my first (but certainly not last) Tragically Hip walk up song.

Good Job Shane, didn't know you knew how to play baseball up there, must be hard to hit a fastball with a hockey stick! Keep on swinging and now you need to switch your avatar to a baseball card!
