This band lost me a few years ago. It just seemed to me like they aren't doing anything new. They're just going through the motions. When I first heard Get On Your Boots it just solidified my dislike of them. They reached an all-time low this morning when I caught myself singing GOYB..... now I'm vengeful

PS: I saw some promo picks the other day. Those guys had on a tone for makeup. I realize most musicians wear makeup for this kind of thing, but it was painfully obvious!! They looked like they were working the other side of the tracks.

Get On Your Boots is the "In View" of the new U2 album. I don't think it's terrible or anything, and it does sound better in context, but it's just not in the same league as the rest of the album. Ignore Get On Your Boots and check out the rest of the songs. Overall this is an excellent record.

From what I've gathered, critics and hardcore fans regularly cite ATYCLB that one as one of their all-time lows. I personally think "Peace On Earth" is the worst song they've ever written. It's terrible.

I do think the new one is very good -- their best since Achtung, for sure. Gone back to making great songs, rather than lazy rock hooks. The title track, Moment, and Unknown Caller are solid songs, and Fez-Being Born was a pleasant surprise.

That's fine for the critics and hardcore fans. I'm just one guy and I happen to really like ATYCLB. If that puts me in the minority, so be it. :lol: 'Get On Your Boots' is a far worse song than 'Peace On Earth' IMO. 'Boots' is probably one of the worst songs I've ever heard, actually. 'Coconut Cream' and 'In View' are classics compared to 'Get On Your Boots'.

Really liking the new album. Recent output by U2 seems to have trailed off in quality by about half way but this one just keeps on delivering right to the end.

Boots is definitely the "In View" of the album, but that said its still nothing spectacular. Its just another underwhelming U2 album. They lost whatever it was that made them great a long time ago imo. I see some flashes of great stuff on this album, but its nothing special overall. I think this band has run out of magic its time to pack it in and I really dont care if they make another album again Im that disconcerned.

U2 has become like that guy who tries to live on past glories from his younger years, move on, the party's over.

I disagree. I thought All That You Can't Leave Behind was a great return to form after the disastrous Pop album, and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, while not as good as ATYCLB, still had some fantastic songs (City of Blinding Lights, Miracle Drug, Crumbs From Your Table, Original of the Species, Sometimes You Can't Make it...). I think the new album is better than both of those records and is slowly becoming my favorite U2 album since Achtung Baby. "Get On Your Boots" is very mediocre and probably should've been left off the album as a silly B-side, but that's what the skip button is for. The other 10 songs are all excellent in my opinion.

I've tried getting myself to like U2, but I just can't do it. They just don't do it for me.

Although a lot of people hated it, I I also liked "Empire Records". The scene where the manager is pissed off, locks himself in his office and plays drums to "If You Want Blood You Got It" was fantastic :thumb:

How so, what does talking about them have to do with anything?

People still talk about Led Zeppelin and they havent released an album in 26 years, so what?

I'm talking about the endless chatter surrounding their current releases.

Unlike a lot of older rock bands, they don't live off their back catalogue. And when they tour, they don't break out a "greatest hits" set -- it always surrounds the new release -- kinda like a band that we both know and love.

I'm the first one to criticize U2 for substandard albums -- their last two have been just that -- this one is far from it -- and judging by most of the fans and critics, I'm not alone.

Looking forward to hearing the new tracks live -- especially NLOTH and Moment of Surrender.

I met The Edge in Toronto on my 20th birthday outside of the ACC. He shook my hand, signed my ticket, and wished me a happy birthday, and a happy birthday ti was indeed.

I like Dismantle, don't really care for atyclb that much at all...love POP though, one of my favourites...

Under A Blood Red Sky is the best, even if it is a live record.

PS: Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me = U2 at its finest.
