What the Esthetical one is attempting to point out is that the band is not known for bitching about what they didn't put on the album, or what they didn't play at such and such a show. Having, as they do, a certain degree of control in these matters.

Oh, and NO MORE 21+ VENUES. They are fucking evil. I know that this isn't the band's fault, but I'm sure that if they really wanted to, they could request that their booking company doesn't schedule them for 21+ venues.

I've never understood Pearl Jam's popularity, especially among hipfans. Personally, I would show up late if PJ opened for the Hip. The hip have always had fantastic opening acts though, such as the Weakerthans, the Sadies, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Rheostatics, etc.

Really? I've loved Pearl Jam since day 1, and I think they're by far one of the best rock bands on the planet. I finally got to see them live at the Saddledome in 2005 and they absolutely blew the roof off the place. It was easily one of the top 5 live shows I've ever witnessed. Great band.

My brother and cousin saw Pearl Jam in Calgary. Said it was the best concert they'd ever been to. My bro raved about the STP show he saw at the Molson Ampitheatre a while back, too, for what it's worth; and I know that STP have nothing to do with the topic but I digress. All I've heard are good reviews about Pearl Jam's live show. I'd love to see PJ live. However, having them open in Canada wouldn't be a good idea. There would be quite a few fans leaving before The Hip even hit the stage. I think Canada loves PJ more than THe Hip to be honest. Maybe it's because PJ don't tour Canada as much and The Hip are always playing shows in Canada and it's not difficult to catch them live. Or maybe it's just because fans think PJ put on a better show. The Hip are my favourite band. That much I know. I also know that, having seen Das Hip six or seven times, if I had a choice to see them or PJ live for my next live show, I'd choose PJ.

I've seen the Hip a ton of times, I've seen Pearl Jam 4 times, PJ blows the Hip out of the water Live. Its not even close. Eddie is a much better singer than Gord. No offence to Gord but Eddie has the voice and that goes a long way.

The fans at PJ shows are twice as loud as at Hip shows IMO as well, a better vibe and not nearly as many drunken idiot fans.

PJ just has this way of connecting with their fans that Das Hips have been trying for, for years now...They're in a league of their own, and they maintain a relationship with their fans in a much more spiritual manner is all. Though we've all gotten high at a Hip gig WITHOUT narcotics, PJ just has this way of convincing their fans that this night could be their last...And even if it's not, it's 10 times different from the night before...A lot of that is the setlists, sure...But yeah, the jam are just in a league of their own...

I love The Hip. No band comes close to competing as my #1 band. I just like Pearl Jam. They are probably my #3 favorite. But, in a hypothetical situation of only being able to see one or the other, I'm picking PJ 8 out of 10 times.

3 hour sets, seeing one of the greatest rock guitarists alive do his thing, the variety in their songs, the amazing crowd energy, Eddie (the non-smoker again I think) and his fantastic voice,and just this amazing vibe I get at all their shows.

Of course folks are entitled to their opinions, but many many people bash Pearl Jam and their only exposure to them is Ten. PJ has come a LONG way from there, and trust me their live shows are practically a religious experience.

Of course, The Hip ain't too shabby live most times either!

They need to played "The Dark Canuck" at a show I go to. I pleaded Gord to re-add it to the setlist at the San Diego show last year and he said he'd think about it and he did come through, just not at a show I was at.
