Picked up the new album this morning and it's freakin' amazing. I haven't been this blown away by an R.E.M. album since Automatic for the People. Just when you think they've quietly faded away, they come out of hiding with their best album in years and kick you right in the nuts. I love it.

Been listening to it all day and really digging it. "Living Well..." and "Horse to Water" are my favorite tracks so far.
As an aside, Stipe has never sounded more like Gord than he does on Supernatural Superserious. The first time I heard that song on the radio, I did a double-take to make sure the Hip hadn't finally broken in the states.

I picked up the new Accelerate CD/DVD package. It comes with a cool old school r.E.m booklet and the DVD with the digital short 6 Days and two awesome b-side mp3's. One is an old school style rem surf number called "Airline". The second one blew my mind. It's "Red Head Walking". A spot on cover of the legendary Olympia, Washington band Beat Happening.
Wow, this album is all I hoped it would be and more.

I'm interested in hearing more of this album and deciding whether it's worthy. I'm a big fan of all of R.E.M.'s material up until... Up. They completely lost me on that one. I bought the CD, listened to it once and thought to myself, what is this crap? Too bad, because the run of great albums they had before that was incredible. Document, Green, Out of Time, Automatic for the People, Monster, New Adventures in Hi-Fi... all fucking brilliant, for very different reasons. Then overnight it seemed they turned into shit (my personal opinion of course). If this is a real return of R.E.M., then it would be most welcome.

Trouble At The Henhouse came out 12 years ago and this was discussed ad nauseum then.
There's no connection. TATH is the name of the photograph used on the CD cover. That's it.

Jacknife Lee has produced some interesting albums....
