I got Ryan Howard with the 2nd pick, and then went a little crazy on the Jays...Halladay, Wells, Glaus, and Ryan. Usually in any kind of pool or fantasy league I try to avoid picking players from my favourite teams, so I guess I kind of went the other way with that this time. Oh well, Go Jays Go :thumb:

Wow. I thought I'd get a heads-up as to when the autodraft was to occur. I was preoccupied with my NCAA Tourney brackets and didn't get my pre-draft rankings set. #$%@!

So how exactly is each head-to-head matchup scored?

I've read all the stuff on the yahoo site, so here's what I already understand (I think) :

Since our league includes 11 statistical categories (R, H, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP), two opponents will in effect play 11 "games", using the stats logged throughout the week by the active players on each respective roster. Whichever team has the most "wins" amongst the 11 categories ("games") gets the overall "win" for the week.

Correct?

Here's what I'm assuming, but am not quite clear on (please set me straight) :

The offensive stats that will "count" toward your weekly matchup totals are those of your 8 starting position players, your extra IF, and your Utility player (10 offensive players total). Stats for Bench offensive players will not count in your week's totals.

Correct?

The pitching stats that will "count" toward your weekly matchup totals are those of your two SP, your two RP, your three non-designated pitchers (7 pitchers total). Stats for Bench pitchers will not count in your week's totals.

Correct?

Given that the above is true, I have one major concern: What if, during one particular matchup week Manager A has the luxury of geting a total of 6 starts from his eligible pitchers for a total of, say, 48.0 IP, and gets 8 appearances for total of 15.0 IP from his eligible bullpen (totaling 14 appearances & 60.0 IP for the week) while Manager B can only manage to get 4 starts from his eligible pitchers for 24.0 IP and 7 appearances and 15.0 IP from his eligible bullpen (totaling 11 appearances and 39.0 IP)?

Doesn't that give Manager A an advantage based on nothing more than having the good fortune of getting more appearances & IP? Or is this just part of the strategy of this game -- to attempt to maximize your number of appearances and IP in hopes that you increase your number of "wins" in the W and K categories?

If someone could verify or correct me on any/everything herein, I'd be very appreciative!

Esthete, you are correct in all three questions, although I was under the impression that if a bench player had a pinch hit appearance in a game, their performance would be counted against your stats. That may or may not be true. And to answer your other question,, it is to a manager's advantage to make sure their pitchers are active at the time of their scheduled start. The computer will make a notation in your roster when pitchers are scheduled to start and you can edit your roster when your starting pitchers are scheduled to pitch ahead of time. What I do is edit the roster at the start of the week and go from there. Basically, it makes sense to load up your pitching roster with as many starting pitchers as you can find and not have many bench players on offense. Hope this helps! :thumb:
