Words simply fail me about how great this album is. Everytime I think one song is best, another song rises to the top. Today: give me the lookahead.
Only At Transformation and Streets Ahead suffer because they ain't shiny and new to me anymore.

Man i wish i had my hands on NFPA...i'm in Orlando and won't be able to get it till Sunday. At least i had sirius radio in my rental!

I really love this whole album! Escecially the point when the bass and guitar kick in on " We want to be it". Its in the middle of the song and seems to make it take off for me.

Definitely into full immersion now. Moments on each track that grab me:
1) I love that At Transformation starts at what seems like full steam ahead but still has a long build in it...Love "I didn't when it was hapPENing" and the bass line throughout, especially when the song gallops into the 'dream of being' coda.
2) The epic weirdness of Man Machine Poem. Screw everybody who says their songs all sound the same. And referencing avocets and peregrine falcons in a rock song makes me happy.
3) "and Jeeeefff Beeeck." (I also like that they knew to keep the song short. No stretching needlessly.)
4) Of course, the best moment of the album: "We're still happening as we speak!"
5) Streets Ahead bass line, for sure. I'd happily watch an iso-cam of Sinclair on this song.
6) That Gord can sing (seemingly) effortlessly with Harmer and it sounds gentle and rich and right. I'm not sure it would have worked with the vocal tone he had back on Fiddler's Green or Flamenco.
7) The way Gord sings 'Driving it like we stole it.'
8: The entire second verse of About This Map grabs me by my shirt collar.
9) "These are not good hours" is the best possible description of flying. Also: CAL-GAR-Y!
10) That chorus is breathtakingly gorgeous. Very curious to see if they can pull it off live. And the song has the lyric on the album I relate to most: "Days accomplished/If I had a wish/it'd be for more of this" Also, way to trump Joel Plaskett with one more 'through' than him.
11) The way Gord chokes out "You're on your way," especially the second time.

This Album has shapeshifted before my ears...I liked it at first...it had a few shortcomings for me though...and now I'm getting goosebumps at every song...Its just such an amazingly tight HIP record
Sinclair and Faye have created these pounding driving rhythms that are as or more powerful than anything in the Hip's canon...the aggression that they are playing with is incredible...
Paul Langlois and Rob Baker have created these amazing soundscapes with their guitars. It's true artistry...I can see this beautiful but bleak northern landscape in Attawapiskat, I can feel the plane landing in Calgary...
Gord Downie's songwriting is as brilliant as ever...there are too many instances to quote...and as far as his vocal delivery goes...well I think 'We Want To Be It' is his most heartfelt vocal delivery since Escape Is At Hand

Long time no post for me...just going through the album the first few times. Friday Night Hip and a bottle of vino...love what I'm hearing. Much more stripped down obviously than the last few. We Want To Be It and This Modern Spirit jump out at me right away as possible Classics. Here's to good listening and a bunch of upcoming Hip shows for all of us in the near future!

On a maybe sidenote, I've just moved to Whitehorse, and our first "outing was in a bar called Jarvis street saloon, first tune in the set, Courage, Uptempo, version reallly nice, real solid, loveed it, their own twists,3 man band...
