Everyone in the East wins tonight except for the Islanders, who are all but finished IMO. Carolina will be in tough too, 4 points back with only 4 games remaining. The Leafs/Rangers game tomorrow night will be HUGE. If the Rangers win, they'll be in 6th place with a 4 point cushion over Toronto (9th). But if they lose, they'll be tied with Toronto for 7th/8th, and only a 1 point cushion over Montreal (9th). It's going to be a heck of a finish, likely coming down to Toronto/Montreal next Saturday on HNIC in the season finale!

A few players have been hitting milestones the last couple nights, Lecavalier of course potted #50, St.Louis picked up point 100 tonight, Dany Heatley has 100 points, etc. Jaromir Jagr scored 2 tonight, and now needs just 2 goals to be the only player to score 30+ goals in 15 straight seasons.

Exciting finish on the 'nucks/Flames game, but wow - some of the worst officiating I have ever seen. An unsportsmanlike penalty for slamming the gate....at this point of the season in a game between division rivals? Lombardi gets 2 for tripping when Henrik Sedin steps on his stick? Tanguay gets 2 for knocking Bieksa on his ass when Bieksa tried to knock Tanguay on his ass? Shouldn't be surprised though - the only person who tries harder than Mick McGough for camera time on HNIC broadcasts is Gary Roberts.

Yup, the calls on Lombardi and Tanguay were absolute horseshit. Full marks to the Flames for the win though, as they were clearly the better team tonight. That's another huge 2 points and it just about puts the final nail in Colorado's coffin. Calgary has now won 6 in a row. One more and they can finally clinch.

Roberts had a pretty decent game against the Leafs tonight. Scored a goal, and then diverted McCabe's attention (cause we all know how tough that is to do) in the dying seconds to allow for the tying goal to happen.

Hell of a game tonight though...I was having flashbacks to the Buffalo game when they blew the 4-1 lead again. Nice to see them get the goal in OT though, cause a Crosby/Malkin/Staal vs. Raycroft shootout wouldn't have been a pretty sight.

Habs are winning when they need to. They've played decently vs. Buffalo this year, so that wouldn't be a terrible first round match up for them (if they can hold on)

They've split their season series this year, and the Habs have a habit of playing above their weight in the playoffs, as part-timers like Kovalev wake up. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. First, the Habs have to make the playoffs.

But of course he did - the games where he tries hardest post-Leafs is when he plays against the Leafs. I'm sorry, I was indeed wrong. When looking at the 93/94 stats i just looked at the 28 goals he had scored with the Rangers, & forgot to add on the 6 goals he added with the Maple Leafs to finish that season. So yeah, you're right, Jagr is trying to tie Gartner with his 15th straight 30 goal season...but Jagr already has 16 straight 25+ goal seasons, something Gartner hasn't done.

As long as the Leafs can keep pace with the Habs the next two games, it's going to come down to a 1 game showdown Saturday night, how sweet is that!

The Rangers are 1 win away from clinching a playoff berth, which I honestly never thought was possible at the trade deadline. Everyone had them down & out, I remember the comment made on TSN's deadline coverage to describe their trade to get Paul Mara for Aaron Ward "I don't know what the point of this trade was, two teams which are completely out of it swapping overpaid defensemen".
Even as recently as 2 weeks ago during the NBC coverage, not one of the guys on their panel said the Rangers would make it.

Marty Brodeur picked up win #46 last night, he needs 2 more to break the single season record of 47.
