Not that I'm disagreeing...I'm just interested to hear your justification of this comment. Is it because he keeps saying things to the tune of "I've worried about Olympic selections in the past and have been disappointed, this time I'm not going to worry about it"??? Or is it something else???

I primarily feel that way because of a lot of his rhetoric during the lockout. He certainly wasn't alone in that regard, but his attitude of "this is the way it is going to be and there will be no compromise" was thoroughly annoying when he shat the bed in the Philly series.

That being said, getting him for Alexander Karpotsev has to rank as one of the steals of the past decade. Hell, he's been part of two trades that can best be described as grand larceny - the one I just mentioned and of course him and Bertuzzi (AND a draft pick) for Linden. God bless Mike Milbury for making us roto-GMs think we could be real GMs.

That has to be one of the worst trades of all time, Milbury is such an idiot, how does that guy keep his job? Getting rid of Luongo was a good move too, not like he had much potential  The worst trade ever imo, and not just cause of the players that got swapped but the effect it had on the franchise is, no shock here..

Patrick Roy and Mike Keane
for
Andrei Kovalenko, Martin Rucinsky and Jocelyn Thibault.

Still makes me want to scream and cry. If I ever see Mario Tremblay someday Ill rip his heart out of his ass. :x :rambo:

The Sundin for Clark trade with Quebec and Toronto was a bad move, just think if Sundin had of stayed with Quebec/Colorado, that could of been the next hockey dynasty if they kept it together. Sakic, Sundin, Forsberg, Hejduk, Roy, Blake, Foote, Ozolinsh, Deadmarsh, Ricci, Kamensky, Tanguay etc...yikes!

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

ok, maybe the leafs havent won since 67, but c'mon .....

Quote:"Why, the Leafs haven't even made the finals since 1967, remarkably pathetic for a franchise -- and city -- that acts like the center of the hockey universe.

Toronto IS the centre of the hockey universe for a reason,

Canada IS hockey...
Toronto IS the biggest city in Canada

and he doesnt understand why the leafs are so popular

Nuts! You beat me to the punch, farmerdan.

Here are the details from TSN.ca

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=145158&hubname=

The Boston Bruins have traded Joe Thornton to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forwards Marco Sturm and Wayne Primeau as well as defenceman Brad Stuart.

The Bruins are currently last in the Northeat Division with a record of 8-13-5. However, Thornton has managed to score nine goals and 33 points.

The Sharks have also been disappointing this season, sitting last in the Pacific Division with a record of 8-11-4.

Prior to the season, Thornton was a restrcited free agent and signed a 3-year, $20 million deal with the Bruins and is scheduled to make $6.66 million this season.

Sturm is making $2 million this season, Stuart $1.9 million and Primeau $1.1 million.

Oh gee, a T-Bay columnist is upset about the popularity of the Leafs? Excuse me whilst I tremble in fear from his angry words. [/end sarcasm]

Uh, can somebody explain this one to me? One of the top players in the league for a guy who has never had 50 points, the lesser Primeau (which is saying something), and an underachieving Brad Stuart?!?!?

I remember hearing Thornton being interviewed after signing his deal in the offseason and he was asked why he signed a three year deal when he could have been a UFA after one year. He said he did it because he thought the Bruins were serious about winning after they kept Glen Murray. Whoops!

I think Mike O'Connell just put himself in the running for the Mike Milbury "Worst GM Ever" Memorial Award. Seriously.

Here's what San Jose's GM, Doug Wilson, said.

Quote:"He is a leader who scores points and makes other players around him better," Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said in a statement. "To get a player of this calibre, you have to give up something to get something. You would make this trade last month, this month or next year.

Yeah, I guess so, eh?!

As someone who picked San Jose to come out of the West, this looks interesting.

More importantly, as Bruins fan with an authentic away #19 jersey, I'm going to have a hard time getting to sleep tonight

Cheers

 That Thornton trade is a joke! Who is going to be Boston's first line centre now, Zhamnov..the guy has no goals yet! This is going to sink Boston for good, what a poorly run team.

GO HABS!

I guess they knew Ottawa was coming to town and panicked Big Grin Oh well, no Thorton to deal with tonight...

Boston fans aren't going to like that one. That trade really had no logic. I'd love to hear the snickers in the seats while the Boston GM explains that one.

"We feel like we receieved 3 quality guys who will help our team immensely. Sturm is ready to become a star, Stuart is on the verge of becoming a top d-man in the mold of Rob Blake, and Primeau adds character and grit. Joe was a great guy and we wish him luck but we feel like it's a deal we had to make to get better".....

That article on the Leafs was funny! It was good stuff. It sounded true to me but I guess I can see why Toronto fans would hate it. haha

Good to see the Canucks win a game. It was funny seeing Brisebois get hammered by Jovo (btw, what was Jovo doing in the corner anyway, isn't he a defenseman???...anyway).........
