Ryan Whintey doesn't get near enough attention/credit for the year he is having, which isn't surprising considering who he has for teammates...but all you ever hear about is Crosby, Malkin, Staal and Fleury. Whitney is one of the top young defensemen in the game, and he's been awesome for the Pens this year.

As for the Norris, i'd have to go with you cferneyh, Niedermayer, Pronger and Lidstrom, with Lidstrom winning yet again. I hope Dan Boyle gets some consideration too, he deserves it.

I'm definitely a bigger Brodeur fan after tonight! He played a hell of a game, and because of his 3rd period heroics, the Canes are still at 78 points with 10 games to go

Depending on who has played most recently I seem to go back and forth between Brodeur and Luongo being MVP, and I don't think it would be wrong if either of those guys won it. Crosby is definitely MVP of the Pens, but I think you also need to take into consideration that much of their improvement can be attributed to the quick emergence of Malkin and Staal as well. Whereas I would argue that the 'nucks lost depth in losing Bertuzzi and Jovo, yet they could win their division because of Luongo. And it's just more of the same from Brodeur. To think that there was a time that CuBlow made more money than Brodeur and CuBlow was actually pissed that Brodeur ended up playing ahead of him at the '02 Olympics.....<<shakes head>>

Huge weekend for the Leafs coming up. Cliches aside, tonight and tomorrow are absolute must-win games if they want to make the playoffs, as their schedule next week features the Devils, followed by Buffalo x2.

I'm heading to Montreal for the game tomorrow night, really looking forward to it obviously. I've never been to a game in Montreal before, so I'll have to see if the atmosphere in the Bell Centre lives up to all the hype. Being such an important game featuring the greatest rivalry in sports, on the anniversary of the Richard Riot no less, I have a feeling it will.

Well, over the past 10 games my beloved Calgary Flames have been finding new and increasingly pathetic ways to crap the bed every single night, with the most likely result being an 8th place finish at best. There's something seriously wrong with this team right now, and for the life of me I can't figure it out. Is it the coaching? Is it a leadership problem?? These guys are a total mystery. On paper they look unbeatable, but it's just not translating to the ice. They've got the best home record in the NHL, but the worst road record at the same time. If they don't figure out a way to turn this shit around soon, they're gonna be booking tee times with the Oilers by mid-April.

Usually I try not to be this negative, but this team is really pissing me off. I wonder how many more losses it'll take before Sutter sends Playfair packing and steps back behind the bench?

Not to mention a defence that includes Robyn Regehr, Brad Stuart, Roman Hamrlik, and the aforementioned Dion Phaneuf. Matthew Lombardi is having a pretty good year as well with 43 points. When it comes to depth, they're right up there with the best in the league, and if it weren't for their pathetic road record, they'd easily be in the top 5. They're just not gelling or playing as a team right now, and it's leading to costly mistakes during games. If this team ever gets their shit together, they're gonna be scary. Sadly though, it's not looking like that's gonna happen. 70 games into the season and they're playing like it's game #10. If they end up with another first round exit, you can bet Sutter will be making some major changes in the off season, starting with the coaching staff.

I have a feeling the Bell Centre crowd lived up to the hype tonight for you Grimes! I just watched the shootout & saw the highlights from the rest of the game, but it looked like you picked a great game to go see live. Too bad for you the Leafs came out on the losing end though.

What a wild game that was between the Rangers/Bruins tonight. I thought the Bruins outplayed the Rangers in the 1st period, but Henrik Lundqvist was yet again sensational & he kept the Rangers in the game early. The Rangers then just erupted in the 2nd period, partially because they simply just played one hell of a game, but also due to very poor goaltending on the Bruins part from both Tim Thomas & Joey MacDonald. The game had everything from a Rangers perspective....4 point game for Sean Avery, Jaromir Jagr set up each of the first 3 goals, Matt Cullen with a couple PPG's, Henrik Lundqvist with a 30 save shutout, 3 fights (David Liffiton, Ryan Hollweg, Ryan Callahan).
The highlight of the game was definitely the play of Ryan Callahan. The much hyped about prospect (he had a great year in the OHL last year, and is leading the Hartford Wolfpack with 35 goals this year as a 19 year old) got a chance to play tonight, and did he ever impress! Callahan scored 2 goals, was robbed on 2 other chances, he dropped the mits with Chuck Kobesew, and threw a huge hit on Aaron Ward late in the game!

Anybody have Olli Jokinen on their fantasy team? 2 goals, 3 assists, 5 points, +6....not bad
