The Hawks will need a brilliant game to win, but not because of the Steelers' Super Bowl experience, IMO. Their last SB appearance was a decade ago, and while Cowher & Bettis were both there, no one else on this team was. Holmgren went the two years following the last Steeler SB, so it think experience is negligable.
What does stand in the Hawks way?
1. The Steelers' blitz. If the Hawks have trouble running the football, Blitzburgh will be bringing it all day long.
2. Troy Polamalu. This guy is sick. Might be the most gifted NFL safety I've ever seen. He's so quick he can bait QB's into bad throws, and he provides excellent run support.
3. Ben Roethlisberger. His play in this year's playoffs rivals any QB's postseason play ever. Does this guy even feel pressure?
4. Jerome Bettis. We all know what he can do....but add the emotion of finishing his career in his hometown, in the Super Bowl. Look out.
Doesn't look good for your Hawks, but I do think they could eke out a win IF.....
.....Shaun Alexander gains 115+ on the ground, keeping that Steeler offense off the field. It's the only way as i see it. And i guarantee Dick LeBeau sees it, too.
And making the haul to experience the Super Bowl in person is something I'd normally recommend.....but unfortunately, it's in D-town this year :?
(just a joke, Michganders)
