I'm headed down to Dallas on Wednesday for the all star game. I'm interested since 3 Sabres are starting, plus I got the trip as a Christmas gift. I went to the 2003 game in Florida. It was a lot of fun, plus they turned the parking lot into a big beer garden and had a lot of memorabilia vendors.

Each team has to have a representative.. he leads the Isles in goals and points.. so, yeah...

i didn't think that was true anymore about each team, but i could be mistaken

The league definitely had something to do with representation. Check this out:

2 teams send 3 players (1 east, 1 west)
8 teams send 2 players (4 east, 4 west)
20 teams send 1 player (10 east, 10 west) Confusedcratch:

It's on a Wednesday, and not on the weekend, because it's not a big attractive point for the NHL anymore. Back in the 80's, these guys played hard...they don't really anymore. No defense, bad passes, slow skating...

Leave the real games for the weekends. The All-Star game is for the 7-12 year old kids who love hockey.

Oh please. They played hard in the 80s? Yeah, some real defensive struggles.

On January 18, 2007, Rory Fitzpatrick scored the winning goal against the Ottawa Senators. Remember this date becasue Rory may never get another game winning goal for the rest of his hockey playing days, whether it's in the NHL, AHL, ECHL, IHL, or his local rec league. Heck, Rory may never get another GOAL, period. :rambo:

I agree with that, and evidently so does the league. The main reason they've gone to Wednesday was because NBC had no interest in televising it. And regarding the 80's, the All-star game was actually played mid-week then too, so technically they're switching back. I believe 1990 was the first game played on a weekend.

anyone watch the leafs and panthers game tonight? the leafs played like shit all game long, caught some breaks and were very very lucky on a number of occasions. they didnt exactly deserve the win, raycroft bailed them out a number of times. well this is just me ranting because i know i wont see the leafs in the playoffs for a couple more seasons at least.

Yep...watched most of the game. Almost gave it away in the 3rd again...kinda surprised they managed to hang on as they were totally out-played tonight.

With the exception of '83 and '89, they were pretty tight and exciting games. Let's look at the '90's/00's:

2002—World 8, North America 5
2001—North America 14, World 12
2000—World 9, North America 4
1999—North America 8, World 6
1998—North America 8, World 7
1997—Eastern 11, Western 7
1996—Eastern 5, Western 4
1995—No Game
1994—Eastern 9, Western 8
1993—Wales 16, Campbell 6
1992—Campbell 10, Wales 6
1991—Campbell 11, Wales 5
1990—Wales 12, Campbell 7

(2001 looks like the score comes from a football game!)
