Finally have HDTV
#16

When I moved a couple months ago I picked up a flat panel lcd and a rogers HD box, and there's definitely no going back. I rarely watch non-HD programming anymore.

Regarding the hockey, CBC usually does one game a week in HD and the others in widescreen SD (assuming you are still watching on the CBC HD channel). You can check their schedule over on the CBC website, but from what I recall it is the early (Leafs) game most weeks that gets the HD treatment.

Lance if you are referring to this past Saturday's Leafs game, the reason it didn't look so good was that it was not actually in HD, despite the fact the announcers kept saying it was. CBC only has one HD truck, and it was in Calgary for yesterday's CFL west semi-final. When they are in HD, the CBC games do look pretty amazing, and TSN is probably even a little bit better.

A good source of info on HD programming in Canada is the "What's on in HD" forum over at digitalhome.ca: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=38

And about the DVD players - I have an upconverting player that uses an HDMI cable to connect to my tv, and upconverts the picture to 1080i. While it doesn't look as good as a Blu-ray would, it is significantly better than my old 480i DVD player.
