Just got in from the Whitby event; what a great evening.

Secondly, if you can go to one of these events, do it.

After a interesting and educational talk by two of the Waterkeepers the stage was turned over to Gord who strolled to the middle of the stage, sat down and picked up a guitar. He was funny and insightful, chatting with the audience rather than making a speech. In between his chats there were a couple of poems read by another artist (Tanis Rideout) and some interpretive dancing (Andrea Nann).

After the show all of the performers gathered in the lobby to discuss the issues with those in attendance.

I really enjoyed the event, very small room, maybe 300 and Gord with an accoustic and his voice, can't wait for tomorrow night

Very interesting night. I wasn't too sure what to expect and I have to say I left inspired and entertained. Very intimate setting, the place only has 160 seats.

I thought Gord was great. I always get nervous watching him play solo though. Gord has a guitar style all his own...very lose, a little sloppy and I always feel like he is on the verge of screwing up, but he pulls it off and it sounds really good. I wasn't able to stick around after the show...Did Gord come out and mingle?


Looking forward to Port Hope and of course Kingston. I wonder if he'll play the same tunes...

There were a couple of news cameras, MAv had a couple, the Waterkeepers had one, and then there were two people in the audience that had 'em as well.

The hipfans contingent had three cameras (markslog, dreyfuss and me) and markslog and dreyfuss' audio.

I thought that screw_ball would've guessed that if dreyfuss and I were there, we'd be taping...

So how did you're recordings turn out then, chris? It's great that The Hip are so relaxed regarding filming concerts. You do well to smuggle even a basic audio set up into some gigs over here. :roll:

Well... just like all of the other shows from this year, nothing will be released until after October 17. As well, it's a good rule of thumb not to inquire about a recording until at least 2 weeks has elapsed since the event. I'm so busy, as are all of the other tapers I know, that we rarely have time to review our recordings until we get around to working on them... that said, I haven't looked at my footage, but I'm sure it will be good. We all use good cameras on mono/tri-pods and the audio gear is top notch!

Awesome show!! Gord sounded amazing last night. My gf Holly really enjoyed it too. The New Maybe and Josephine were my favorites of the night. Also nice to hear an acoustic version of Pretend. Great job guys on recording the show. I was peaking at your footage as you were taping Chris and it looked like you were doing a great job.

I'm really enjoying 'Goodnight Joesphine' at the moment - the live version I downloaded the other day is superb! I'd love to hear an acoustic verison of it.

I too, thought the night was really good. I didn't know what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised.
