Tour Date Announced
#16

Jenna_Bird Wrote:Maybe this is the time to ask for my graduation present...trip to Europe to see the hip... hrmmm. It's almost crazy enough to work... Regardless, more tours should pop up soon, no?

That would be some gift, a once in a lifetime experience really. As the release date of the album draws near, Im sure lots of dates will surface. I wonder how far in advance bands setup their tour plans and book all the dates? I have a feeling they will tour big for this album, I sure hope they come back to London again, that was such a great time.

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

How much is a plane ticket? Couple bucks?

Actually, tickets to Amsterdam from Toronto used to be relatively cheap - as compared to, say, Rome.

Ofcourse, it would cost me $800 to get to Toronto, so I think I'll wait for the Hip to get closer to me. After all, they tour so that I don't have to.

Im not surprised Mark is going, he's been to 176 shows. Confusedhock: If thats true, what a fan you are, I tip my hat. Im starting to wonder if you work for the band?

O it be true. :-) Nope I don't work for the band either. I am essentially the quiet fan that loves the Hip for their music. 200 shows for me is just around the corner. I've put well over 200k kms on all the cars I've own over the past 12 years following the band we all love.

It actually took a bit to compile that list especially for the 1996-2000 shows. Luckily I've taped all the shows I've gone to (starting first with audio [1993-1999] and then moving to both video and audio [Feb 22 1999]).

What an expensive venture!

I've got 80,000 Aeroplan points burning a hole in my wallet right now...I've been planning a Europe trip for a REALLY long time, and 80,000 points would get me a business class return ticket to Amsterdam... this seems too perfect. It sure would be a once in a lifetime opportunity...I was gonna do a multi-stop Southern US tour but this Europe idea is waaaay cooler.

The only catch is I've got a wedding to save up for and a house that I'm going to be buying to consider...but if I don't do it now, I'll have found another excuse by the time the next European tour rolls around....damn, growing up sucks.

I've always wanted to follow a band in a few cities during a tour, some day I will, don't know what would be better, States-Canada or Europe, or anywhere else, I'm thinking Europe would be cooler for a band like this(not as known, smaller shows,etc..)

After going to BC-Alberta last year(travelling), I want to go to Europe and Australia, probably Australia next, has the Hip ever played down under?

Had my first taste of Amsterdam last June, been dying to go back. Me thinks this is the perfect reason to go. If they end up playing a few dates in the Netherlands this becomes a no brainer. :thumb:

I did a mini backpacking tour of Europe in 2003, and have been itching to get back to Amsterdam. The hostel that I stayed at, Vondelpark, was a short walk from The Paradiso; on my final night in Amsterdam Ben Harper was playing the Paradiso, and the hostel was filled with fans following him around Europe.

I'm seriously considering this trip. Tickets are a good price for the shows out in Europe. It's just a matter of getting over there and finding places to stay.

For whoever is going, post any travel information, flight deals or hostel prices on here. If we could arrange a group of people going over, that would be awesome. Heck, MAv, why don't you tell us when the hip are flying over there, and we'll join them on their flight.

dstar at the tracker works in the travel industry and is going to try and set something up for a group. I'll create a new "bulletin" board for sign-ups and info.

robert goulet Wrote:If this is true than I guess that means that it's unlikely they'll be playing the Ottawa Blues Fest which is scheduled for July 7-16th...that Netherlands date on the 11th falls smack in the middle...maybe they'll play the opening night on Friday the 7th or Sat the 8th...so far it don't look good though...argh.

Hey man,

I am a Amsterdamner ;-) Confusedhock:
Great idea to get down here, i did the same , I saw a show in Atlanta during their last show.
ANyway, a great hostel is located a crawl away from the PAradiso venue, definately a must once seen show. The atmosphere rocks, always sold out. Enough Candians around!
anyway, here's the link to the hostel:
