Did anybody like Bass is Base?

Its strange how bands just fade away, especially after having some success here, which doesnt happen that often, or as often as it should. Canadian bands tend to be under-appreciated here, and I dont know why?
The only reason I brought bass is base up is as I was looking through the <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.canoe.ca">www.canoe.ca</a><!-- w --> Enclyopedia of Candian music, and I saw the name and went hey, I remember them! Crowded House. I especially miss them live. No one knew what was going to happen at their shows, not the band or the crowd. Only thing guaranteed was a lot of fun.

Funny, I was just talking about the Watchmen in another thread. Looks like there's a lot of fans here. Other bands I miss:
Headstones
Change of Heart
Odds
Bourbon Tabernacle Choir
Midnight Oil
Morphine
Skydiggers
Screaming Trees
Weeping Tile
Uncle Tupelo (Wilco and Son Volt are both incredible bands, but I still have a soft spot for their original incarnation)
and last but not least, the original line-up of Guns n' Roses.

I forgot to mention the Odds. As for Blur, I'm thinking old Brit-Pop Blur, not late 90's beer commercial Blur, or post-Graham, Gorilliaz 1.5 Blur. That said, I agree that 13 was a solid record; Think Tank on the other hand, not so much.
Weeping Tile reunites every year in Kingston, usually at AJ's around the holidays to do a benefit show. From all accounts (I never went because I was usually back in the GTA by then) they tear the house down.

2 bands most haven't heard of...but the Smalls were one of the most unbelieveable bands live..and Downway, a Calgary punk outfit that foujnd their stride and then promptly broke up, too bad, again, great live show

Regarding Ben Folds 5, Ben Fold's solo albums are well worth the effort, and as they are near as dammit the same format with him writing the tunes & playing the tunes (bit like Dennis Waterman with theme tunes :wink: )
I guess crowded house would be a problem now after the sad end for their drummer. The Finn brother stuff has been, imho, a bit poo.
Now if soul coughing ever got back...

aaronck.... good call on the smalls. Corby Lund is the man.
I think that, unfortunately, the smalls were too far ahead of their time and were ultimately frustrated by labels and radio. If they surfaced now, I think they'd be huge. The world needs the smalls now.
THat being said, I saw them in a club in Oshawa in 99 or 2000 in front of 8 people and it was still one of the best shows I ever saw.
