I first found out about this site from a fan at the Gorge show. I then found the link at The Hip's site and have been making a nuisance of myself around here ever since. I think the Hipbase works perfectly in conjunction with HIPFANS, THEHIP.com. and The Tragically Hip on Youtube. The combination of the four sites provides total media coverage.

I have said this to Lance before... But the amount of people that go to a Tragically Hip concert and end up on Hipbase (the following week) is a small percentage. In the future, I envision that 15-20% of Hip concert goers that are not previous members of hipbase.com, will sign up in the following week. For example: If a club holds 4000 people, in the next week, approximately 700 new visitors should join. Maybe I'm way off here... but I have some ideas that could bring in more members.

Of course it would take participation from the current members on Hipbase to be effective, so that is where you all come in. Perhaps after The Hip 64 event is over, I will approach some people to get the ball rolling.

I printed up 15,000 flyers advertising hipfans.com and the other sites I run (I also included hipbase.com as the forum link).

In Europe last summer we distributed them at every show and I saw a huge jump in traffic.

If you don't run a printing company (thankfully I do...), this can be expensive, but it certainly worked for me!

I came over here from the old newsgroup, alt.music.tragically-hip. I believe it was Stephen Dame who mentioned the Hipbase in a thread over there and I just followed the link. Needless to say I've been here ever since.

As for attracting new people, I've gone out of my way to mention this site as much as possible while visiting other music forums.

With all the talent around here a flyer could be created for The HIPBASE and anyone who wanted to help out could print up a couple bucks worth and pass them out at shows. If the flyers look really cool they would become "collectibles".

I just typed 'The Tragically Hip forum' into Google.co.uk and got this place! I'm very glad I did. :thumb: It seems to be the only Hip forum, which is cool.

Be careful passing them out at shows, if that is the route people go... some venues have strict policies against that, and it can get you kicked out.

I was searching the web for bootleg audio of a show from 1995. I couldn't find anything except tape traders....and this site. Then I was directed to a certain ftp and a certain tracker and the rest is hipstory.

Thanks to everyone who directly or indirectly runs one of these magnificent sites.

I was searching for tour and album info at some point between IVL and IBE. Randomly came here through Google at some point. Came for the info, stayed for the Base. This is a very cool place. In all honesty, it's the only forum I come to with any regularity. Kudos, Lance. By the by, I recruit every major Hip fan I know to come here...but only one has so far.

By the way, if some of you are wondering, since the dates don't match up, I joined under another username and then I couldn't remember that username when I came back later. So, I re-registered in Sep 04 with this username.

Do you remember what that question was? It would be fun to see how much more knowledge you have gained from being on here frequently...
