Since you said that people who want to dissect lyrics need to "get a life", what would you say it behind this song if it not to be taken at face value??

StephenDame Wrote:The lyrics are usually cited as the reason most people hate it, ironically, folks take those lyrics at face value while dissecting every other song.
The openning riff is gold, and the guitar work is great throughout. I really like the song.

Are you responding to this post?

go®d Wrote:O yeah and I was quoting his comments in the song meanings thread, just so you know. I didn't make that up out of thin air. That's good, because you didn't state your source for the quote, which made it hard to follow what you were saying.
go®d Wrote:I thought it was hypocritical of SD to say in one thread, peope who like taking a closer look at lyrics need to get a life, then over here he says people who take the lyrics at face value are missing something.Maybe you're taking this a little too personally?
So help me wrap my feeble brain around this - does he have contempt for people who look beneath the surface of lyrics, or people who take them at face value? ,Maybe he just has contempt for EVERYBODY???
chris Wrote:That's good, because you didn't state your source for the quote, which made it hard to follow what you were saying.Eeps...I really REALLY didn't want to SAY this but...my comments were meant for SD and he would know exactly what I meant. Like I said, I didn't want to have to say this, but the comment wasn't directed at you so in my opinion, you should have let SD catch this ball.
chris Wrote:Maybe you're taking this a little too personally?Yeah...I admit it. But I did feel it was unfair of you to try and undermine what I said to 73 (again, not directed at you) when you stood against me after my post to SD, and I'll stand by that.

O and by the way I found 73's other thing...once again, if you let them field this one, you wouldn't have looked like you didn't know what you were talking about. http://www.hipbase.com/forum/viewtopic. ... ght=#63631 "I didn't read the article, but..."
(By the way...thanks to your post I figured out how to split-quote for the first time! )

Have a good one.
