Money will not smooth of 40 years of isolation, undoubtably trauma and institutionalisation. Money doesn't erase time and memories, besides... 76 years old, and the way the courts work, good chance he'll be gone before he sees a penny of any money.

Yeah seriously, what do you have to say about all those people who couldn't afford clever lawyers and got put to DEATH despite their innocence? No amount of money can ever bring their families comfort, and once they're dead the state won't waste money exonerating them.

George Ryan of Illinois pardoned EVERYBODY on death row in his state after he became convinced the law wasn't fair to all races and economic situations. Compare that to Dubya's Texas, which happily kills more people than every other state combined. Capital punishment is too strong a punishment for the 5% or 10% (or more...) of people who aren't guilty.
