Yes, we're severely lacking in signs that tasteful today. In my years in Europe as an art collector I came across "Renoir pour Premiere Ministre en 1879!", and it's certainly the only one I ever found that matches the color scheme around the four-acre pond in my front yard.

I was reading up on the Green Party's campaign tactics a while back, and it turns out they were in quite a pickle. Being self-professed (moderate) environmentalists, they should be against the use of those tacky, plastic signs that end up being lost, un-accounted for and thrown out post election. This obviously negates one of their proud and chosen party platforms. They looked into using alternative materials such as paper, and even hemp, but they proved to be un-viable, for obvious (weathering) reasons. So they settled on a rationed number of signs to be put up, with every single sign being documented, accounted for, and recovered post election. Apparently no other party has a policy on this.

Thought that was kind of interesting.
