"And the real wonder of the world is that we don't jump too..."
I'd go to the wall, Daredevil is the best story Gord has written, or that we've seen anyways...

A bunch of mine have been mentioned, such as the first line mentioned from Inevitibility of Death or the one from Impossibilium, but how about:
"Folks went back to normal when they closed the case; They still stare at their shoes when they pass our place." just paints the picture so well, man I love 38 years old

"Legs scream at bikes and bikes scream at trucks; And motorists curse their lousy luck"
"Salesman said this vacuum's guaranteed; It could suck an ancient virus from the sea; It could put the dog out of a job; Could make traffic stop so little thoughts can safely get across"
"The ice is covering the trees; And one of em's interconnecting; With my chevrolet caprice"

"This song is called Stay, which means Go, ...which means Stay"
I may be paraphrasing a bit but Gordie said this in Halifax on the 2000 winter tour.
"I was feeding you, with a 15 foot pole of bamboo"
You gotta love bamboo references!

... a few of my favourites.
"I made degenerate art
for the religious right
on the day that you were born
I had passion to experiment
but I was torn"
"So I'll paint a scene, from memory,
so I'd know who murdered me
It's a vain pursuit, but it helps me to sleep"
"no solitary walks through vacant lots
in moonglow"
"Bring me back in shackles,
hang me long out in the sun,
exonerate me, forget about me"

I'm glad people are diggin this thread but I suppose it's an important aspect of the Hip.... Of course it is. Anyway, I'm surprised at alot of the quotes people are pinning up in here. Some really good lines I'd forgotten, so it's all good. I'd like to bring to all your attentions to "Save The Planet." I could almost post this whole song here cuz every line is beautiful (but I won't).
"....With a painted restraint I don't move a muscle
Though a turbine roars
If the bathwater's clear and my ear's underwater
It's a tolerant hum from the core..."
The Hip helped Tthip stop smoking?! That's crazy, man... Way to go! :thumb:
(And yes, of course, Gord solo quotes count. Even stuff from his book)

'The selection was quick, the crew was picked and those left in the water got kicked off our pantleg and we headed for home.'
'There's a trace of mint wafting in from the north so we don't fuck with the 401.'
'She's the horrible aesthete and she hates her ugly feet at the place where her friends all meet she takes her shoes off and invites everyone to see.'
And from the new album:
'When the drug quits you, as humble as a fruitfly you'll mutter to yourself you talentless fuck, good fucking luck'
