Summer's Killing Us Lyrics
#16

Good job once again with the lyrics, TLB.

I have a couple of things to add. After a few close listens with headphones, here's what I'm hearing:

C'mon up here we've got something to show you. (1st verse)

...

And does anybody know your wishes? (2nt verse)

Ok, so I'm in the other room with the PC cranked and I clearly heard the "s" at the end of "changes". I think it was the concert syndrome: you can hear things alot fuller a few rows back than in the front row ha ha ha ha.

And yes longseason, it is "Shadow"! Besides making perfect sense, I was mistaking the "sh" in "Shadow" for a strange combination of "Saddle" & "Seattle".

Hey Heavy, yes it's "here" instead of "and" (I've been wanting to change that for a few days) but I still hear "everybody" instead of "anybody".

I'm changing those three now. I'm also changing the first line to "distanced places" because that's all I hear now.

Listen to the whole song with these new changes and let me know how it sounds to you.

I think it's right. Although when I listen to a song and I think it says one thing it actually starts to sound like it says that.

Like "'Back At Sunshine', it's The Shadow Band"
I can hear "Lacking sunshine, it's The Shadow Band"
And "Laugh at sunshine, it's The Shadow Band"
Although these don't make sense

Also "Cuz this tune will do you like the dishes"
I think may be "Cuz this too will do you like the dishes"
I missing the "N" at the end of tune

All these are based on how the song sounds on headphones on the computer cuz i haven't been them on CD yet, so maybe I'm wrong. We won't know for sure until we buy the album but for all events and purposes I think it's acurate the way it is.

After re-reading the lyrics here (thanks to you all for posting :thumb: ) I definitely think the song was insprired by Gord's tour last summer...
especially because of the the 'Canada Lost - go home' bit...i know, i'm probably reaching.

I was trying to think of the last time Team Canada lost something during a summer... and the trying to relate that to the struggling band/impressing a girl theme from the other SKU thread...

Kind of an "okay, you've been at my house for three hours, the game's over, Canada lost, go home."

But the most significant Team Canada summer losses I can think of would be Canada's Cup's in the late 70's, early 80's, maybe the '96 World Cup.

Anybody else have anything for the "Canada Lost, go home" line?
