Some Hip Poetry for ya.
#16

I actally like WOTW's poem, made me laugh. Poetry is such a subjective realm, I'm not sure why WOTW's piece would erk you?

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

I think he assumed he could use the thread you started to express some of his own writing prowess.....

I'm just a little psycho today, don't mind me. The last 14 hours have not been good.

I for one would like to see anything you may have written. If you see fit to reinstate the poem, it would be read with a healthy appreciation for the art form.

It's not big deal that WOTW submitted a poem of their own. I hope your next 14 hours are better than today apparently has been. See if you feel like posting a poem when you feel better Smile

I've been know to be oversensitive. I'm a woman PMSing:-p

The Pied Piper Of Canada

Spouting off words like some rock star sage
Arms flailing, head bobbing
He's an odd terpsichore of the stage

Like some pied piper, his voice transfixes the crowd
Entranced in his lyrics, they sing along
Eyes widened in excitement and very wowed

If he messess up a lyric they don't care
He's a goddamed genius
And they are thrilled to just be breathing the same air

He sings of far away places and some not too far
He sings about hockey, cops in love
He even sings about vaccination scars

A rock star that writes poetry, for he is a sensitive man
His name is Gordon Downie
And The Tragically Hip are his Band

Not bad at all...thanks for sharing :-)

He shouted out across the crowd
Barking orders in a dancing fit
"This is a song, not so much about a car,
As about the bonanza that bought it..."

thanks. I really don't think I write poetry that well and I don't usually like to share. However, listening to The Hip has inspired me.

I'm usually a fiction writer. I've actually won awards with my writing.:-)

I won the First And Probably Not Annual Dalhousie University Geology Department Artsy-Fartsy Award for Creativity in Writing once.

One time on a field trip we sat by a river waiting for the tidal bore (a 10 foot wall of water) to race backwards up the river. We waited there for 2 hours before the idiots in charge realized they had gotten the high tide and low tide times mixed up. I wrote a poem about it.

Well my awards we many years ago, but my most recent honor was being published online. I wrote a story about my love for the Montreal Expos. I've also been published in print.
