Out of 23 shows I was surprised three was the most times I'd seen them in one venue.

Lots of variation is good.

it will be forever known as Copps.

Haha :thumb: I was thinking that too as I look at this thread. The variation over the years is great.

For an arena venue, I think Copps is the best venue I've seen them. Every show there, including from this last tour, was incredible.

I'm from the East coast so most of my shows have been there. However, I have seen a number of Ontario shows as well (mostly Toronto) and the best of those was the 2000 "Evening With" show I saw in the Hammer. I agree on Copps being a fantastic arena environment to see them in. I don't know if the city was maybe an early supporter of the band in the late 80's but the Hip seems to have a special affinity for Hamilton and the fans there.

I've seen the Hip the most times in Toronto. The furthest away was in Manchester UK. The weirdest place was the strip mall bar in Clifton Park NY.

Mainly saskatoon but also London England the year they played Canada day. I just happened to be in London on that day, having just gotten back from Glasto. Was pretty neat to see so many Canadians in England. The 'Canadian' food vendors were pretty hilarious and there was no Timmies, but we got Strombo as host  Oddly I had more Canadian pride in the uk than I ever do back home but I guess that's to be expected.

I have always thought Copps as a top notch arena venue. I found sound in there to be great.

Least favourite was Sarnia bayfest when they turn the hoses on the crowd. Nothing like being soaked at a show.

I saw them 6 nights at massey hall one year, that was a drunken time.
The 2 nights @ Fort York were awesome.

The small Brockville warm up show before the opening of the Krock was beyond fantastic.

the worst venue was in hogensburg ny, think it was called the 'all in lounge'?

Seeing as we're also talking about worst and best venues...

I will never forget the World Container concert at the University of Cape Breton. It was literally in a parking lot outside of the residence buildings.

The GA pit was divided in half down the middle. One side was 19+, one side was All Ages. We only cared about being up front, so we were on the all ages side where the crowd was more sparse to begin with. Near the end of the set, the fences on the 19+ started to give way because of all the drunk Capers pushing. Also, I remember it being abnormally cold for a September night.

So I guess a parking lot in Sydney is the oddest place I've seen The Hip. Just remember ... 'You are the venue!' - GD

In the Detroit area I've seen the Hip at a few venues several times. The Filmore Detroit (state theater) 5 times. The Fox Theater, Cobo Arena, The Palace of Auburn Hills, The 7th House (best concert ever...only seats about 500). Of course add in Windsor and Toledo shows.....and there you have quite a few!!!

lol...the All In Lounge was a gong show! Probably the worst Hip show I've seen (not that it was a bad show though), but that night was so ridiculous that it's made a great memory! I can't help but laugh every time I think of that show.

5 shows at Memorial Stadium in St. John's
4 shows at Mile One Centre in St. John's
2 shows at Salmon Festival in Grand Falls, NL
2 shows at Copps Colisseum in Hamilton
2 shows in Ottawa. Bluesfest and Canadian Tire Centre last August
1 show in Toronto at Molson Amphitheatre

Being from Newfoundland, I appreciate the fact that I got to see them this many times! Last August in Ottawa was such a memorable show!

They were giving out free packs of some off brand smokes to everyone in the bar area which ended up filling the place with a blue smoke. Then some locals in the VIP area chucked a beer at the stage pretty much shutting the show down. What a mess.

I've seen the Hip at every show they've done at Northlands/Skyreach/Rexall Place etc. in Edmonton since '96. Red Deer At the Centrium since '99 and the Saskatoon Arena from 2004 on. Throw in a few shows at the Pacific Coliseum, the Commodore and UBC Thunderbird Stadium. The Moore Theater in Seattle and Macewan Hall Calgary in '06 (first Fiddler's Green Show). Probably a few more shows that I don't recall.

6 times at the Halifax Metro Centre - unfortunately, I missed the 2004 show which would have made all the Metro Centre shows from when I was old enough and close enough to go.

Yeah, Brockville was great -- we ended up about third row on Paul's side, and I mostly remember it was really loud and a guy dancing around with a cane in the front row. They did a great job at the ticket selling for that one -- first time I'd experienced no ticket, cc entry only. I've seen a few different bands at that theatre (Blue Rodeo, Matt Good), great little venue.

Hogensberg -- I came close to going to that one, but something must have come up. Friends went, ended up parking somewhere miles away and getting reserve police parking tickets and then posted some pics of the crowd through the smoke haze. I've driven by that place a few times over the past decade, and it's mostly been an empty building since that show. I never figured out how The Hip ended up playing that show in that building.
