Song list - what have you heard live?
#16

boot Wrote:The Hip website still has this feature where you can flag all of the shows you've been to, and it compiles this nice little list for you. I've found a few discrepancies over the years here and there, but pretty good.

One that has always bugged me is Ottawa Lansdowne Park, ARA July 26, 1993. I remember that show so perfectly and know for 100000% fact that "Thugs" was played, but it is not shown in the setlist, nor is it on the bootleg. But there is absolutely no doubt, I know with absolute certainty it was played.

Plus, I know it closed with Blow at High Dough. I remember that as well, because we "thought" the show was over after the encore and we left. As we were almost to the car, they came back out out and we stopped and listened to it while in the parking lot. But again, it does not show up on the setlist or on the bootleg. I am guessing the setlist was created from whoever had made that bootleg, which was definitely not the complete show.

The one song I've been chasing for years now is inevitability of death, and unless Gord has a warped sense of humour about the situation, I'm not sure that one will be popping up in the setlist much.

Also, something on, anything beyond the 3 big songs off up to here, cordelia, unplucked gems, greasy jungle...all would be gladly accepted into my "songs I've seen" spreadsheet.

Looking through set lists of shows I was at, apparently heard Get back Again, Day for Night tour at the Memorial Center in Kingston -- that was a great show, I skipped work and stood in a snowstorm to buy tickets at the rink, but wish I could remember hearing that song.

I was there too, slept overnight at the Memorial Center to get tickets... but sadly, also have no memory of hearing Get Back Again.

Bummer - I remember watching a MuchMusic special when M@W was released; a friend had only heard M@W and was unimpressed. They played Tiger the Lion during the show and he immediately went out to buy the CD.

I've only seen them six times but have been fortunate enough to catch Emperor Penguin twice.

Also glad to have seen Boots and Titanic Terrarium twice. Another highlight was Tiger the Lion in '00.

Would love to hear the first Hip song I ever remember hearing (38 years old), Last of the Unplucked Gems, Three Pistols and/or The Depression Suite.

Shane

If I recall correctly the played out 1999 into 2000 with Last Of The Unplucked Gems as everyone waited to see if the power would fail - ACC December 31 1999

If I wasn't a poor starving student in '99, I would have been in Toronto for that show... Sad

1 I saw the first ever public performance of Tiger The Lion 6-16-2000
2 At another show I stepped on stage as Tiger The Lion started (and then was asked to get off the stage) 7-1-2000

14 shows in total. I'm actually baffled that I've heard Fiddler's Green four times, and Streets Ahead three times, but have only heard Vaccination Scar three times. That doesn't jive with my memory. Also, the one time I heard "You're Everywhere", I believe was before it was released. They played it at what remained of "Edgefest" in Barrie one summer.

I got around 35 shows under my belt, might be easier to tell you what I haven't heard.

They haven't played Vaccination Scar since the IBE tour, if I'm not mistaken. Not sure why they don't play it, it's a fun song.

It's played with a lap steep guitar (as well as You're Everywhere). I guess it just didn't seem worth it to set it up and soundcheck all for two songs after the IBE tour.

A shame. Both those songs kick ass.

Probably because they'd need to bring robby's pedal steel (slide? whatever it was) with them, and it isn't worth the hassle for one song.

According to my personal spreadsheet, I've seen 95 different songs over 19 shows, including fiddler's green 7 times. SEVEN!
