But it is Downies favorite from this album:

"This is my favourite song on the record.... set to Paul's beautiful score,
one small question from one small person.
"Why is the world so creepy?" Indeed"
GD

"We're forced to bed, but we're free to dream"

Maybe he said it was his favorite because it was the most different. This was just a year or two after he released Coke Machine Glow and was trying more than ever to make his music more experimental. I remember I bought the "Men With Brooms" soundtrack because there were 2 new Hip songs on it. BOY was I disappointed. Yeah, I've never been a fan of the song either. "Oh Honey", the other song on the soundtrack is way better.

I don't want to get too sidetracked on this but Throwing Off Glass is one of my favorite Hip songs.... not just from IVL but of all time. All of their songs lead the listener to figure out meanings for themselves and "Glass" connected with me and my relationship with my daughter over the years. I hear that song and the lyrics, as a father raising a daughter and the threats that are out there....

Sorry, I know I'm in the minority on this one but I couldn't believe they hauled it out on the 09 tour for several shows..... love this little song

direwolf74 Wrote:World Container is the sound of a band rejuvenated. There's a lot of energy in those songs. Simply put: it rocks. I always hear people talking about how great In Between Evolution is. But personally I think WC is a better, more focused album. Sure, Bob Rock went way overboard with the production on a couple of songs (In View, World Container). But overall I think it's one of their strongest albums in recent years.

WC is focused? I loved it when it first came out. I rarely listen to it anymore, but I do still like some of the songs. I think the album is completely unfocused, though. You have a great rocker like Ocean and then you have a ditzy tune like In View, a rambling Pretend, a flat out strange Luvsic that sounds like it belongs in the 80's, a harsh song like Kids. Anyway, I don't think the album is complete trash or anything, but I do think it is all over the place and with no focus or direction.

Hahahah I notice that on everybodys list EP comes last. That is the common thread with Hip fans, EP last.

Its still a damn enjoyable little listen for me though! Killing Time is one of my favs...
But speaking of World Container... love the artwork inside.

Also, I feel as though 'Yer Not The Ocean' should have been track two, and 'The Lonely End of the Rink' should have been the opener...

I like a couple things on the EP especially Last American Exit. That song would fit into any current setlist IMO. The rest sound a little too dated (80's production, chorus guitars etc).

It would be damn interesting to hear what these songs would sound like in 2012. But just like Fiddler's Green we'll probably never know what they would sound like live... XD
