Only Hip song I don't have on my itunes. Sounds like me playing the guitar, those notes just don't go together.

want to be a nobody without peer
want to be a thought that's never done
want to shake your faith in human nature
want to break the hearts of everyone
want to be your wheezing screen door
want to be your stars of Algonquin
want to be your roaring floorboard
want to break the hearts of everyone

Slightly off topic, but I have to laugh when I read people talking about IVL as the 'good old days' of great Hip records (in contrast to their 'inferior' recent efforts). Fans said EXACTLY the same sort of thing when IVL came out, with IVL playing the role of the 'disappointing' new effort. And they've said the same sort of thing ever since Henhouse, really.
It's not a great album - Gord's lyrics are too constipated, he's still finding his way out of the disasters of M@W and hasn't yet returned to the form he recovers on the splendid IBE - and the production is just awful, easily as bad as Bob Rock's, albeit in a different way.
As for the song in queston: 'Are You Ready' is OK; but fundamentally it remains a good example of the error of trying to do at 40 what you absolutely nailed at 20.

I'm sorry, but I disagree with completely with the previous post (other than the Are You Ready part, which seems pretty accurate). This kind of post seems to represent someone who was disappointed that the new Hip in 2002 didn't sound anything like the old Hip, and are still too jaded to appreciate IVL for what it is. I'm not saying everyone who doesn't like IVL is like this, just the way the last post was worded seemed like you haven't listened to it in years out of spite.
The lyrics argument doesn't make any sense, if "Leave", "Dire Wolf" and "Dark Canuck" aren't up there with some of the best lyrics Gord has ever written, then I don't know what is.
Now I know mrsardo will chime in and probably agree with me, and thus I will lose all credibility. Oh well.

I find any reference to M@W being a disaster... actually to being anything less than a masterpiece, to be sacrilege.
