Gordon Lightfoot, Gord Downie team up for Feb. 4 concert
#16

Well, I was looking for a Christmas miracle. Beats the hell out of the mix cds and bottle of wine I was giving my Dad. R Section, seats 15 and 16 left side. Based on the seating chart Chris put up, I'm strangely comfortable with my purchase.

Great find Dana. Can't wait to see you all in February!

Cheers,

Pat

Here's the Gord Downie bio they're using for this event (quoted below):

And the full ad:

Quote:GORD DOWNIE

While the occupation that Gord Downie lists on his passport is "musician", he could just as easily have cited "songwriter", "poet", "video director", or even, existentially speaking, "restless spirit". "I enjoy the process of writing to a fault," he admits. "I love doing the work. I love solving the puzzle."

Gord Downie is perhaps best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of Canada’s most beloved band, The Tragically Hip, who have thrilled audiences around the world with their live performances for over two decades. In this, Gord has achieved the enviable status of a musician that enjoys both mass popularity with over 8 million albums sold worldwide, as well as peer recognition with 31 Juno Award Nominations and 11 wins.

On the screen, Gord appears most recently in Michael McGowan's film, One Week, as a pot smoking philosopher starring fellow Canadian Joshua Jackson. Downie also has cameo appearances in Men with Brooms, the Trailer Park Boys’ movie The Big Dirty, and on television in the series finale of Trailer Park Boys, "Say Goodnight To The Bad Guys", and Corner Gas "Rock On!". He also starred in the short film At The Quinte Hotel, featuring Canadian poet Al Purdy's poem of the same name.

Gord has released two solo albums, Coke Machine Glow (2001) and Battle of the Nudes (2003). The Tragically Hip will release their 12th studio album, We Are The Same in April, 2009.

He is a Trustee of Lake Ontario through his support of the Waterkeeper Alliance.

Video director? Oh God, please tell me he didn't direct those vids up on Hip.com. I seem to recall that we totally hammered on those.

As this gets closer, I'm getting more and more curious as to what the format and length of the show will be. Will they duet? Will they do 4-5 songs each, if that? Will Gord (D) do any solo stuff? Going to be an interesting night, that's for sure.

Catherine MacLellan, daughter of the late singer-songwriter Gene MacLellan, will also be featured.

Well, the winds of doom have struck yet again and it looks like I'll be out of town for the show, and so it is with stinging regret that I can offer a pair of tickets for Thursday night. They are L.PART, Row A, seats 5-6 (seating chart posted earlier in this thread). I would like to recover as much of the cost if possible. If interested you can contact me at juan.collados@ips.invensys.com

EDIT - Tix have been sold.

With your permission, I will give your email address to a guy I know who has one 2nd row balcony. I'll confirm it is still available.

I am getting the impression that it will be like a talk show sort of thing. Maybe like Costello's Spectacle? Sounds like the kind of format for a great TV taping, though there is no indication of such.

Sorry my bad, now looking back at the Topics I should have contacted thecompletist first before openly offering the tix since it appears his request was posted one day earlier than (Ken)adian's request on Ticket Exchange. I was in a hurry and didn't think to do my homework. Hopefully you can find tickets for the show.
