Remember Gord is a writer/musician/performer/athlete. Many performers and athletes attach special qualities to objects that remind them of good times or feel that an item brings them good luck.

Gord's worn out ball cap has probably been with him through a number of tours and experiences and I think he wears it as his "fifty mission cap". It's like a badge of honor. It's old, beat up and ugly, yet at the same time a well-worn friend. It may remind him of the struggle to become who he is today. (I'm reaching here). I think he will continue to wear it until the bill falls off.

I will have to agree with Highlander on this one. When a man has a favorite old pair of jeans or a favorite beat up ball cap, it sometimes becomes attached to our persona and we become offended if others want to discard it. Women, (I'm generalizing), say throw that ratty old thing away because it takes away from your looks, and buy a new one that compliments you. We can't because it took us a while to get it into this broken down, comfortable condition that we have become attached to.

My personal opinion is this. Woe to the person who destroys, discards or takes Gord's hat. I feel he holds special importance to that hat and he wouldn't be very forgiving if he lost it.

I feel the need to chime in on behalf of well worn clothing everywhere. I feel a shining example is my horrible beat up 8 year old Doc Martens. They started off as a nice camel color and have since worn to a shade that even Crayola couldn't create. Those shoes have been with me to hip concerts, first dates (what was I thinking?!?), dances (again...why?), hockey games, football games, auditions, rehearsals, etc. They come to serve as a reminder of all I have accomplished in those shoes, both good and bad. It makes me weepy just thinking about it

On another note....isn't the Bruins hat the same one that's in the Pascal's video?

I have to confess I'm wearing jeans today that I cannot part with either - they're Levis that were discontinued like 6 years ago, and they fit so perfectly and they're that awesome faded colour.

Yeah it's a whole process getting jeans that comfortable...it takes years. My pair of unbelievably comfortable jeans died a couple of weeks ago, it was very sad. It had been displaying some little tears here and there but nothing serious. Then one day I had to bend down to pick up a baby and before I knew it....R-I-P... right across my ass....

Maybe a good ol' patch will give it the kiss of life.....I'm getting all excited just thinking about it!! :lol:

I got a little hole right above the knee, caught it in a nail under a desk, and you know what I did? I cut out a patch from some other shitty jeans and then used that ribbon stuff that's like glue when you dampen and then iron it. I put the patch on the inside then ironed and VIOLA! almost perfect. The trick is trying to get all the threads on the side so that they're hidden. Try that Kim, you might get away with just a faint line instead of a very obvious patch across yer ass :mrgreen: . Worth the try if you want to salvage them.

Oh, and as someone who has not purchased a single piece of clothing or pair of shoes in TWO YEARS (Mom and old girlfriends used to buy my clothes... ) I too know the value of well worn apparel.

I met Gord and got him to sign my BOTN cd at Shank Hall in Milwaukee. Earlier that day I got to see the Stanley Cup and meet Brian Rafalski. I told Gord about seeing the Cup earlier that day and he thought that was cool.
