The show is a virtual petri dish. If there's some sort of penicillin shortage, it's a direct result of that show.

Is it silly of me to be proud of the fact that I have never seen a single episode of any show listed in this thread, let alone heard of at least half of them?
Then again, I cancelled my Dish Network subscription after the US Presidential election last Nov and other than inauguration day, I have not missed it for one second. I don't even get over-the-air broadcast tv. I have the digital converter thingie, but zero reception.
I pretty much stick to watching tv shows on dvd. what a Godsend. No commercials, no 7 days or more between episodes...fantastic.
Working my way through "Dexter" right now. KILLER show (no pun intended).

I would agree that any "reality show" goes in the worst show on tv. Two and a half men is pretty awful too imho. The Simpsons however is still the best show on tv.

How I Met Your Mother is very good, bordering on great. It looks and feels like a normal sitcom — and there is nothing wrong with that — but subverts the formula by playing with time. Go watch "Slap Bet." It's a how-to lesson in comedy writing.
I will agree that 2.5 Men sucks, though. Unlikable characters behaving unlikably.
The worst show on tv: I have a special place in my heart of hate for both The Bachelor/Bachelorette and The Biggest Loser.

how i met your mother is freaking terrible.
and i feel guilty saying so, for they've played gbv's "i am a scientist" and "glad girls" during episodes. so obviously someone behind the scenes is a fan.

I was totally ready to let the How I Met Your Mother thing slide, but...
1) Poor acting? You're going to say a show that features Neil Patrick Harris (Tonys, Emmys host) Jason Segel (Freaks and Geeks, all those Apatow movies) and Alyson Hannigan (Buffy!) features bad acting? I respectfully disagree.
2) That Family Guy spoof was done lovingly. The HIMYM creators are friendly with McFarlane, and even went on to direct an American Dad episode. The voices were done by Harris and Josh Radnor, who play Barney and Ted on the show. If it was a mean-spirited jab, they likely would not have been involved. And if you want to talk about a show that features poor story telling, I'd nominate "Family (we can't focus on plot for more than 30 seconds at a time before devolving into some HILARIOUS pop culture witticism that has nothing to do with anything) Guy".
3) I'd posit the only things that How I Met Your Mother and Full House have in common are the voice of Bob Saget and the penchant for oversentimentality, although the latter was far more guilty of that than the former. HIMYM has a lot of heart, sometimes too much. But it can still be really funny.
Anyway, it's cool if y'all disagree. I just think you're wrong. And now that I've displayed how much of a television nerd I really am, I am officially letting this go, lest i develop the reputation of Argumentative Guy On The Internet.

Point well made. My opinion is in the minority. The truth is my faimly watches it. They like it. I find it torture. The Judd Apitow conection makes sense. Ok, I'll just go ahead and say it. Judd Apitow is not funny. His friends are not funny and his movies are weak. Come to think of it HIMYM and Apitow are alot alike. Overrated shlock!
