Opening song prediction??
#16

Grace Too is and will always be the best opener.

Thus I predict Grace Too.

My favourite opener from the WC tour was Family Band. It was scarce that they played it first, but I was lucky enough to catch it as an opener once.

And it was fantastic.

Cordelia would also make an INCREDIBLE opener!

I think with this tour it will jump between Love is a first and Queen of the Furrows.

want to be a nobody without peer
want to be a thought that's never done
want to shake your faith in human nature
want to break the hearts of everyone
want to be your wheezing screen door
want to be your stars of Algonquin
want to be your roaring floorboard
want to break the hearts of everyone

I'm thinking Love is a First would be the perfect opener.

On the first leg of the WC arena tour, Lonely End of the Rink was the opener. I loved LEOTR as an opener, and Gord's introductions, e.g. "You can do it, you can make it, and if you can't, we're here. At the lonely end of the rink." or "I'm at the lonely end of the rink, where are you?". It wasn't until later in the tour (that was a very long tour) that they started using other tunes (Yer Not the Ocean, In View).

I wasn't sure which thread to post this in and didn't think it deserved it's own but here we go. Here's my wish for this tour:

First half - Acoustic
20 min break
Second half - Electric

The way this album is layed out they would have enough new songs in each set to pull it off. It's probably a pipe dream, but it would make things more interesting.

I don't know — wonder what the energy would be like with the show split acoustic/electric?

Well, the second half would have all the energy of a hip concert. It all depends on what you like. I would love an acoustic half. It seems like people either love or hate the unplugged thing. There's no in between.

There's just no pleasin' everyone. Just like everything, I suppose.

Agreed on the setlist idea. They should totally Neil Young it up, a la "Rust Never Sleeps."

I would love to see it done this way and posted about it in a setlist wishlist thread a couple of weeks ago. The Gateful Dead did it in the early 80s. It would allow the Hip to reinterpret some classic electric tunes (NOIS, Courage, Three Pistols) and play many of their stripped down songs. They have enough Acoustic and Electric songs in the kitty to pull this off and at this stage of their career perhaps A&E would save a little on W&T of touring.
