Best Ever Opening Band for The Hip you have seen.
#16

Of the shows I've seen, Sadies by far.

Almost Hip Wrote:The Headstones was a great opener as were The Watchmen at the Hip and Friends shows, (even though there were several openers per night)
Others from Edgefest would be Thronley and OLP (I know it was edgefest but they all played before the Hip so im my eyes they opened for them)

Otherwise for standard 1 or 2 opener nights Sam Roberts and Buck 65 have been my favorites

Hamilton Feb 2 2006 I think it was. Fuck that Buck 65 was bad, I was row 3 on the floors and nobody around us was enjoying it. It all seemed not a real concert to me. He just seemed to have a lot of taped stuff and would ocassionally go over to his sound board or whatever and twist a few knobs and then continue to sing.
Dont get me wrong he was interesting for me in a Carnival Freak Show kind of way. I watched him and felt embarassed.

Im not dissing your joy of what you like but im just telling you how my pea brain saw it.

I remember Buck 65 at Hamilton, he was terrible, have to put By Divine Right in the bad category as well, I hated that band.

I just remembered Hayden and the Skydiggers opened for the Hip in Toronto for the millenium show, that was a great concert. I cant remember the others right now..

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

Damn, I can't believe I didn't mention those guys. One of my favorite rock bands of all time, and definitely one of the best openers the Hip have ever had. Also, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Constantines or Wintersleep yet.
