It also doesn't do much for people that have tickets to a show but legitimately can't go for one reason or another, and need to get rid of them...

I believe that you can purchase an insurance policy on your tickets, at reasonable cost, to bail yourself out in such an instance.

The recent Tom Waits tours used paperless tickets, and it pretty much thwarted all resale activity....

ticketmaster.ca has no such option that I've seen-but it looks like another cash grab by ticketmaster-does it work if you just change your mind? Or do you need a REALLY good reason/Drs note to get your money back?

The funny thing about this is that for one of the shows I was interested in going to ... you could get your tickets through their little scam of a resale site they had ... yet tickets were not supposed to be on sale yet. They have a little notice that tickets can not be sold above the dollar value listed on the ticket ... mind you looking for hip tickets I do not see one remotely near face value.

I googled "Richard Cheese" on the site ... they listed his TO show and noted Tickets are not on sale yet but will be soon ... on the ticketmaster site they do not even acknowledge his TO show. cratch:

Yeah exactly that sounds like another scam to me. The easy solution would be for them to make the tickets refundable - if you can't go you simply return them, and they can re-release them. Of course ticketmaster (and the venues/promoters/artists) probably don't want to take on that risk. So if I have to buy a non-refundable ticket, I want a legal way to resell it in the event that I can't go.
